5 arrested for Peddling Ganja in Bejai
Mangaluru: The South Anti-rowdy Squad police arrested five youth while selling Ganja to college students and the public at Bejai, here on October 30.
The arrested have been identified as Roshan Veigus (23) from Kuloor, Anil D’Souza (45) from Bejai, Melwyn Rohit (22) from Yeyyadi, Rakshith Shetty (21) from Kandettu Bikkarnakatta and Yajnesh Shetty (21) from Bendurwell.
The Assistant Police Commissioner of South Sub-division and the Anti-rowdy Squad received a call that near Ram Mandir Bejai at Tirumalesh House, one Roshan was selling Ganja in packets. He was also selling Ganja through some of his customers and some come to the Tirumalesh house to buy Ganja. On getting reliable information, the anti-rowdy squad got into action and arrested five youth.
The police seized 2.2 kilograms of Ganja in 61 packets, 5 mobile phones, Rs 2390 cash all worth Rs 78,390/ from their possession. During interrogation, the accused revealed that from past two years they were bringing Ganja from Thirthahalli, make small packets of it and selling it to the students of various colleges in the city.
