9th successful Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan by Ramakrishna Mission

Mangaluru: Ninth week of 11 cleanliness drives of the 400 Abhiyans being organised by Ramakrishna Mission, Mangaluru took off on Sunday, the December 4, at 11 different locations in the city.

92 A B Shetty Circle – The employees of Sriram Transport Finance Corporation took up the cleanliness drive near A B Shetty Circle. DGMs Sharatchandra and K V Sathyanarayana jointly flagged off the drive. A small garden near the circle that was neglected was given a facelift and new saplings were planted. The areas inside A B Shetty circle and in front of the Police Commissioners office was cleaned.

93 G H S Road – Students of Ganapathi Highschool carried out the drive surrounding Mahamayi Temple. G G Mohandas Prabhu and Shalini gave the green signal. About 150 students were divided into different teams. One team cleaned the area surrounding the temple and another cleaned the compound wall surrounding Ganapathi high school and painted the walls. Mahesh Bondal coordinated the team.

94 Bolar – The members of Nivedita Balaga took up the cleanliness drive near Leewell Bus stand in Bolar. They cleaned the road leading from the bus stand to Bolar main road. Suresh Shetty led the team that cleaned the drains adjoining the road and removed heaps of garbage. Another team cleaned the road. The third team under the guidance of Vijayalakshmi went to each and every home and shop creating awareness among the people in the area.

95 Konchady – The volunteers for Konchady Friends Circle carried out the cleanliness work in Malemar road. Rathankar Shettigar and Jagadish Shetty flagged off the drive. Volunteers cleaned both sides of the Malemar road.

Due to the poor laying of the public tap and leakage, the area had become marshy and difficult for the public to move.

Balakrishna and Sudheer took special interest and cleaned the area, they took the help of labourers, scientifically redesigned the setup built a washing area and pipe to drain out the extra water. The public appreciated the work. Shankaranarayana actively participated in the drive.

96 Bejai – Members of Mangaluru Senior Citizens Association carried out the drive in front of the KSRTC Bus Stand. Keshav Rao and Damodar hedge gave the green signal. They cleared the footpath of debris. The Bejai Kapikad road and the dividers were thoroughly cleaned off the garbage. They also met the road side vendors and created awareness among them. C V Kamath, Donald and others actively participated in the drive.

97 Car Street – The devotees of Gokarna Math and public of car street took up the drive in Car Street. Yogish Bhat, EX MLA and Pooornima, Corporator flagged off the drive. The team led by Naresh Kini cleaned the area from the Flower market to the entrance of Raghavendra Swami Math. They also cleaned the compound walls by removing posters. Basti Purushottam Shenoy, Ramesh Hegde, Chandrika Baliga and others actively participated in the drive.

98 Mulihithlu – The members of Sri Amba Maheshwari Bhajana Mandir cleaned the area from Mulihithlu to Ambanagar. Kamalaksha Bolar and Br. Nishchay flagged off the drive. A small garden was made in the garbage dumping yard last week. A team of volunteers under Hemalatha and Jayanthi visited door to door and created awareness among the residents in the area. Volunteers under Ramesh Kottari cleaned the roads in Ambanagar. Koosappa coordinated the team.

99 Mangaladevi– Members of Bhagaini Samaj cleaned the area from Mangaladevi Cross to Jeppu market. Along with cleanliness work, the volunteers visited each and every house and tried to create awareness among the residents. Dr Gurukiran and Jyothikiran flagged off the drive. Rathna Alva guided the volunteers.

100 M G Road – The employees of LIC and Agents association carried out the cleanliness work on the Jail Road. Purushottam Bhandari and Nandakumar jointly flagged off the drive. LIC office and its premises were thoroughly cleaned. Stany D Souza, Govinda Raju Nayak and others participated in the drive.

101 Bajal – Members of Art of Living cleaned the Kavubail Sri Panchalingeshwara temple and surrounding area. Bhaskar Chandra Shetty and Parvatamma waived the green flag. Members of Sri Ayyappa Swamy Bhajana Mandir actively participated in the drive. Bharath Shetty, Yatish Kumar, Kiran rai and others coordinated the volunteers.

101 Urwa Market – The employees of MCF carried out cleanliness drive in front of the Urwa Marigudi temple. Dr B G Suvarna and Radhakrishna flagged off the drive. The members of Panchamukhi Balaga cleaned the road leading from Marigudi to Urwa Market. Volunteers cleaned the ground of weeds and grass by using the grass cutting machine. Amitakala, Prabhakar Rao, Director, Jayaram Karandoor actively participated in the drive.
