Mangaluru: The Election Commission of India (ECI), to cleanse the Photo Electoral Rolls by weeding out bogus/duplicate/shifted voters, launched the National Voter Service Portal (NVSP). This is a major initiative of the ECI under the National Electoral Roll Purification and Authentication Programme to clean up the nation’s electoral roll and wipe out irregularities, said, deputy commissioner A B Ibrahim in a press meet held at the DC office here on March 31.
Addressing the mediapersons Ibrahim said that linking EPIC with Aadhar card will help in identification of unregistered eligible voters and issuance of freshEPICs for saturation of electoral rolls and to also make shifting of voter from one place to another easier without creating duplicates.
Citizens can feed their details online through the NVSP portal (www.nvsp.in) or to feed your Aadhaar Number by SMS, type ECILINK <EPIC_Number> <Aadhaar_Number> and send it to 166 / 51969. Also 1950 can be called to reach State Call Centres. Details can also be furnished to regional election officers at Voter Facilitation Centres, e-Seva Centres or Citizen Service Centres. Special camps will be organised for this purpose and the ECI will inform the people of the same shortly.
