Mangaluru : On the occasion of Kudla model Aafreen Vaz winning the fbb Femina Miss India 2015, Fashion ABCD had organized a press meet at Hotel Taj Gateway here, where the media persons had the opportunity to interact with the stunning beauty Aafreen. Earlier this morning Aafreen was given a warm welcome when she arrived at the Mangaluru International Airport- and later in the day she was felicitated at A J Shetty Institute of Medical Science where she is pursuing her studies in medicine.
Aafreen Vaz was born and brought up in Mumbai- after her high school studies in Mumbai, she immigrated to New Zealand for her colleges studies. She has completed her Bachelor in Science with major in Physiology from the University of Otago, New Zealand. She has also done her one year Radiation therapy from the University of Otago, and has also been awarded a scholarship from the Royal Society of Breast Cancer. Currently, Aafreen is pursuing Bachelors in Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) at AJ Shetty of Medical Science-Mangaluru.
Arriving at Taj Gateway she was greeted with a traditional welcome by the GM of the hotel, Peter Nirmal. After a short photo session, Aafreen was escorted to the dais by Charan Suvarna-managing partner of Fashion ABCD, who also welcomed the gathering. Expressing her gratitude, Aafreen Vaz said, ” It’s indeed heart-warming to see so many well-wishers and to be welcomed like a queen in my own beautiful coastal town, Mangaluru. The love and endless support of my family and friends have made this dream come true for me. I would also like to thank Miss India Organization for providing me with such a platform. I am extremely thankful to Mangaloreans for their love and support. I hope to perform my best with this title and make a difference in the society”.
With many queries posed at her during the interaction and answering them to the best of her ability, Aafreen also talked about her future plans. She mentioned that apart from the various national and international platforms that the Crown takes her to, she will also be launching her own institute which will work towards spreading awareness about breast cancer among Indian women. ” I will be selling my fashion clothes, sash etc, thereby raise money for this institute. And since I love children very much, I want to care and show my love towards the children, especially under privileged kids” said Aafreen.
When asked how would she manage time towards her medical studies and modelling/fashion shows, Aafreen replied, ” If my studies come in between my modelling and fashion events, I may have to take a break from my studies. I am very much determined to put Mangaluru on the International level in the field of fashion and modelling. I want to bring back the crown to India in the international beauty pageant. I know with hard work and determination I can do it”.
When asked about any plans of getting married soon, Aafreen said, ” Not in the nearest future. When the right time comes, when I find the right man who will treat and respect a woman with dignity, I will tie the wedding knots”. Regarding getting into Bollywood acting, Aafreen said that she has always been a secret actor, and if she gets a good offer to act in movies she wouldn’t hesitate, but it all depends on time pertaining to her modelling/fashion events/activities.
When asked whether her surname is spelled as Vas or Vaz, Aafreen on lighter side of vein said, ” It is spelled as Vaz, and I am not related to the Vas bakery family in town- I wish I did, then all the cakes, pastries etc would have been on the house. But I do have roots in Mangaluru, which is a long story which can’t be narrated now”. Regarding age, Aafreen said, ” I want everyone irrespective of age to enjoy life. There is no age limit when it comes to enjoying fun and having a social life. Make best use of life and don’t get stressed out thinking about your age”. For a question asked at the fbb Femina Miss India 2015 pageant, “At what age do most people become old and what is the secret to staying young?, Aafreen Vaz’s had replied, “Transition from young to old is subjective…when you start behaving old you feel old and if you smile then you stay young”.
For Aafreen love is the purest emotion that can’t be expressed in words.Looking the youthful 25 that she is, Aafreen has been handling the media from all over while exploding the myth of beauty without brains. The ravishing Aafreen Vaz who is also the winner of Campus Princess 2015, the pageant that got her a direct entry into the top twenty one at fbb Femina Miss India 2015. She is a damsel with a lot of gusto and a resplendent personality. Aafreen outclassed the other 21 contestants to bag the Ist Runner-up- but having a OCI status, she could not qualify for the top prize-Miss India.
