Tipu Jayanti will be Celebrated even without the Attendance of BJP leaders

Mangaluru: “We will celebrate the Tipu Jayanti whether the BJP leaders will attend the programme or not, said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah during his Visit to Mangaluru.

CM Siddaramaiah was speaking to the media persons after arriving at the international airport.

Addressing the mediapersons CM Siddaramaiah said, “Tipu is a historic figure and he fought against the British. Ananth Kumar Hegde writes to the government not to print his name in the invitation. Even Shobha Karandlaje has said not to print her name on the Tipu Jayanti invitation. But I need to ask Shobha when she was in the KJP, they celebrated Tipu Jayanti. Jagadish Shettar also praised Tipu during the programme. The Vice Chancellor Sheik Ali wrote a book on Tipu Sultan and Jagadish Shettar wrote the preface. Jagadish Shettar in the preface said that Tipu is a freedom fighter but now he is against Tipu Jayanti. We are celebrating Tipu Jayanti because he fought against the Britishers and he is a historic figure. We also observe Mahaveer Jayanti, Kittur Chennamma Jayanti, Basavanna, Narayana guru, Kanaka, Valmiki, Sri Krishna and Kempe Gowda Jayanti. We have culture and we celebrate the Jayanti’s of freedom fighters and those who have dedicated their life for the country. Now the BJP is trying to demolish Taj Mahal annd we have to be careful. It is a historic Monument, if they demolish the Taj Mahal then we also have to demolish the Red fort, Parliament House and Rastrapathi Bhavan because all these buildings were constructed by the British. Those who do not know the history they cannot create a better future”.

Siddaramaiah also said, “Tipu Jayanti is a government programme and if Ananth Kumar Hegde will not attend we cannot stop the programme. If Ananth Kumar Hegde comes for the programme or not we will celebrate Tipu Jayanti.”
