Bhaskar Shetty Murder case, Hearing Date to be fixed on November 28
Udupi: The district sessions judge on Monday, October 23, read out the charge sheet of all five accused in the Bhaskar Shetty murder case. The accused denied the charge sheet allegations.
On Monday, October 23, the three main accused Rajeshwari Shetty, wife of Bhaskar Shetty, Navneet Shetty, their son, and Niranjan Bhat, a priest, the two accused charged with destruction of evidence are Srinivas Bhat, father of Niranjan Bhat, and Raghavendra, Niranjan’s driver were produced before the district magistrate Venkatesh Naik.
Navneet Shetty and Niranjan Bhat were allegedly assaulted by inmates of Mangaluru District Prison last September. After the incident, the three main accused Rajeshwari Shetty, Navneet Shetty, and Niranjan Bhat were shifted to Shivamogga prison. The Manipal police brought out all three accused from Shivamogga prison to Udupi Court in the Police vehicle.
The district magistrate Venkatesh Naik readout the charge sheet of all the five accused in the Bhaskar Shetty murder case. The accused denied the charge sheet allegations made on them. The district magistrate Venkatesh Naik postponed the case until November 28. The court will fix the date for hearing on the Charge sheet.
Bhaskar Shetty, a businessman, went missing from his house here on 28 July 2016, and his mother, Gulabi Shetty, lodged a missing person complaint at the Manipal police station on July 29. The police arrested his wife, Rajeshwari (46), and his son, Navneet (24), on the charges of murdering Shetty and destroying the evidence, on August 7.
They arrested Niranjan Bhat (25) on August 8 for allegedly helping in disposing of Bhaskar Shetty’s body after burning it in the ‘Yagna Kunda’ room at Nandalike village and disposing of the ashes in a rivulet at Palli village.
The police arrested Srinivas Bhat and Raghavendra on the charges of destruction of evidence in the case on August 10.
