CMC Meets Jail Superintendent seeking Permission to Provide food on Christmas to Jail Inmates

Mangaluru: The members of the Dakshina Kannada District Congress Minority Committee submitted a memorandum to the Jail Superintendent on December 23, seeking permission to distribute food to the Jail inmates on Christmas day.

The President of District Congress Minority Committee N S Kareem and General Secretary Lawrence D’Souza along with other members met the Jail Superintendent Parameshwar and handed over a memorandum.

Speaking to mangalorean.com General Secretary Lawrence D’Souza said, “During festivals, we have government holidays to celebrate. When we celebrate festivals we prepare good food, at the same time inmates in prisons do not get the opportunity to celebrate festivals with their families. So we thought of providing them food on festivals. We are on the verge of celebrating Christmas and we want our brothers to have a festive meal in the jail. To seek permission we met the Jail Superintendent Parameshwar and handed over a memorandum requesting to allow the Christian community to provide food to the jail inmates. Jail Superintendent Parameshwar assured us of giving an opportunity to serve food to the inmates. He also said he would inform us the date to distribute food to the inmates.”

President N S Kareem speaking to mangalorean.com said, “During government holidays and festivals we all have good food but the inmates of the prison do not get the opportunity to have homemade food. As Christmas is nearing, we would like to provide food to the jail inmates. Today we met the Jail Superintendent Parameshwar and handed over a memorandum seeking permission to provide food to the jail inmates.”

Amblamogeru Panchayat President Rafiq and Ullal Block member Alwyn D’Souza were also present.

God bless this committee for their selfless gesture
of serving festive food on Christmas day for the
prison inmates. All faiths must follow suit to bring
about a sense of caring and sharing and of love.

Likewise, clothes, blankets, toileteries, and educational
books should be donated by the neighbourhood community
and distributed to the prison inmates.

These thoughts and actions will make those prison inmates
that the world is full of love and care.
