Cleaning and Plantation Drive at Nandigudda Graveyard by St Aloysius MSW Students

Mangaluru: The PG Department of Social Work (MSW), St Aloysius College, Mangaluru ventured into a Cleaning drive and a plantation programme at Nandigudda graveyard on 28th July 2018. 80 Students of MSW and five faculty members took part in this programme. The progamme was inaugurated by the Ex Mayor of Mangalore City Corporation and the Cooperator of the ward Ms. Jacintha Alfred. She addressed the students mentioning the importance of nurturing the nature. Mr. Godwin D’Souza an Industrialist from Mangalore and Mr. Jeeth Roche, Coordinator and a nature lover was also present. Godwin D’Souza, provided materials required for the programme.

The cleaning drive and the plantation programme was started at 1.30 pm and ended at 4 pm. Heaps of plastics, bottles and syringes were collected and digging pits and planting saplings was done, students and teachers tirelessly involved in the entire cleaning drive and the plantation programme.

Great job and also a noble job by MSW students in cleaning the Nandiguddah Grave yard that deserved a face lift very badly. The deceased souls will pray for the students of MSW who were thoughtful in generating this good idea of removing all the rubbish as well as all waste thrown away and caused so much of disorganization at a site where the ashes of the known or unknown souls are buried.
