We should Safeguard Youth from Alcohol and Drugs’ – Dr H S Ballal during Jana Jagruti Jatha
Mangaluru: The Shree Kshetra Dharmasthala Gramabhivridddi Yojane and Akhila Karnataka Jana Jagruti Vedike in association with Mangaluru City Police and District Legal Services Authority organized, “Jana Jagruti Jatha and Gandhi Smriti Vichara Sankirana and Vyasana Mukta Sadhakara Samavesha at the Kudmul Ranga Rao Purabhavan here on October 6.
The programme began with an invocation. President of Akhila Karnataka Jana Jagruti Vedike Mahabala Chowta welcomed the gathering. The programme was inaugurated by the Pro-Chancellor of Manipal University Dr H S Ballal by lighting the traditional lamp along with other dignitaries.
Addressing the gathering Dr H S Ballal said, “The Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala Dr Veerendra Heggade has briefed on the disadvantages of alcohol and drugs. It is very important to be free from such habits. The Shree Kshetra Dharmasthala Gramabhivridddi Yojane and Akhila Karnataka Jana Jagruti Vedike is organizing this programme every year. 60% population of our country is the youth. It is our duty to safeguard our youth from falling prey to bad habits. In this connection, Shree Kshetra Dharmasthala Gramabhivridddi Yojane and Akhila Karnataka Jana Jagruti Vedike are striving hard to safeguard our youth from bad habits. Ten days ago AKJJV members came to me and I wholeheartedly accepted their invitation because we are senior citizens and it is our responsibility to see that our younger generation does not fall prey to drugs or alcohol. We had organized a marathon for “Say no to drugs”, we need to organize more and more programmes to bring awareness among the younger generation. It is our duty to bring awareness and I am always with AKJJV so that our youngsters can be saved from falling prey to drugs or bad habits. The AKJJV should continue their good service, my support is always there with you. Next year AKJJV should organize this programme in Udupi”.
Vinutha Rai spoke about Mahatma Gandhiji. Jeevana Samiti member Harish Kumar was conferred with Jagrati Mitra award for his tremendous work in safeguarding 45 people from alcohol. MP Nalin Kamar also spoke on the occasion.
Senior Judge and Member Secretary of District Legal Services Mallanna Gowda, Mayor Bhaskar, Dr Srinivas Bhat and others were also present.
The best and the biggest contribution that each and every Indian can make in the present time, in addition to the spirit of non-violence, influence each and every Indian to keep away from the addiction of drugs and alcohol.
