Brit nurse dies after falling ill on flight to Dubai for girls’ holiday
Charlotte Carter, who had been “excited” for the winter sunshine break, was booked to stay at the plush Five Palm Jumeirah hotel.
But she started feeling ill on the flight to the UAE, before suffering a heart attack as she and her pals took a taxi to a friend’s home.
She was rushed to intensive care and resuscitated “multiple times”, according to reports.
But despite the medics’ efforts to save her she tragically died.
Heartbreaking tributes have been made to the “gorgeous” and “caring” mental health nurse, who “dedicated her life to helping others”.
One heartbroken pal said on Facebook: “My best friend came on holiday to see me and went into cardiac arrest in the taxi on the way to my house.”
She added: “Charlotte was on the flight messaging me saying she can’t wait to see me and planning our week, she was absolutely fine, even on top form and this happens completely out of the blue.”
Sadly Charlotte didn’t take out travel insurance ahead of her holiday, leaving her family stuck with a massive £30,000 in medical bills to pay.
Friend Megan Boyes, who set up a crowdfunding page to help her family pay of the debt, said: “Our gorgeous friend Charlotte tragically lost her life at the age of 30.
“She was so excited to go on holiday to Dubai on a girls trip but sadly she fell ill on the flight which resulted in her being taken to intensive care once arriving in Dubai. After being resuscitated multiple times she unfortunately couldn’t be saved.
“We want to help raise money, as like many young people do, Charlotte didn’t take out travel insurance which means the medical bills and repatriation costs will be very high.
“We need all the help we can get. A tragedy doesn’t even describe what’s happened to our beautiful, witty charming girl.”
A Foreign Office and Commonwealth spokesman said: “We are supporting the family of a British woman following her death in the UAE, and are in contact with the Emirati authorities.”
The JustGiving page has already raised more than £17,000.
Pulmonary Embolism likely on a long distance flight rspecially if she was on OCP. May her soul rest in peace.
