Our Voting Rights have been Snatched – Majid and Shreyas
Mangaluru: “Today Morning at 6:45 am, I along with my wife and daughter went to the polling booth. I was shocked to hear that my name was deleted from the voters’ list. I had checked and confirmed my name in the voters’ list in January. I had also cast my vote last year for the assembly elections but this time my voting right has been snatched”, said Abdul Mazid Sattar at the Congress office Mallikatta on April 18.
Speaking mangalorean.com Mazid said, “I am very much disappointed by the system which is snatching the voting rights of the citizens. Voting is our constitutional right and no one has the right to snatch it. I strongly demand the concerned authorities to look into this matter and punish those who are responsible for deleting my name from the voters’ list and snatching my right to vote.
Speaking to mangalorean.com Shreyas Bhat said, “I had checked and confirmed my name in the voters’ list on March 15. But today when I went to the polling station I found that my name was deleted. I was very upset when the polling staff said that my name was not present on the list. Even though I have my voter ID I right to vote has been deprived. If a candidate loses by one vote it is very painful, whoever the candidate may be, every vote is precious. I urge the election commission to take stringent action against those who are involved in the illegal deletion of our names from the voters’ list.
I am also the victim. Even my name is not there in voting list. My name was deleted.
I had voted last year too. Without our permission or without our notice or any document, how anyone can remove the name from the list.
R we not alive?
The concern authority has to take strict action regarding this.
