Police Meddling in Civil Cases and Threatening Litigants – Prof. Narendra Nayak

Mangaluru: Keshavamoorty Chandrashekar is a software engineer who has worked in the UK for over sixteen years. He has been fighting for justice for some time now and he has filed numerous cases too. However, it has recently come to light that Keshavamoorthy Chandrashekar, a resident of Puttur, has been threatened, harassed and made to sign a legal document to withdraw/settle cases which he had filed previously against two individuals. The perpetrators of the crime are Bantwal Police Circle Inspector Sharan Gowda and his team. An official complaint has been lodged against Sharan Gowda with the Superintendent of Police for the Dakshina Kannada district.

The gist of the matter is that Keshavamoorty had filed a cheque-bounce case against Gurushiva Dutt on March 4, 2019, at a Puttur court, and another consumer case against Rajendra Kuppetti. The second case involved cheating consumers (in the name of Midbrain Activation) by making bold claims such as children being able to read with blindfolds on. The filed consumer case is currently at the argument stage in the consumer court.  Keshavamoorty was summoned by ASI Dhananjay of Vittal Police Station on May 7, 2019. Later, he was threatened by ASI Dhananjay and Circle Inspector Sharana Gowda with threats that he will be arrested and a COD inquiry will be ordered resulting in several months of jail time. He was also taken by ASI Dhananjay to a nearby Notary Public in order to sign a legal document stating that he will withdraw both the cases. He was also forced into signing a written statement before the Circle Inspector.

The case against Rajendra Kuppetti is the first such case against cheating in the name of Midbrain Activation. Though it is unanimously agreed by all medical authorities and scientists that one can see objects (or anything else for that matter) only when the reflecting light from it falls on the retina, the proponents of this alleged scam (known as Midbrain Activation) have been claiming that children can see without the occurrence of that scientific process! Keshavamoorthy and another person had filed cases against the Efficient Brainy Academy in Puttur, of which Rajendra Kuppetti (who is also a witness to the document) is the proprietor as well as the accused in the consumer case.

It is deplorable that the police, who have no locus in settling civil disputes, are resorting to threats and strong-arm tactics in a district like Dakshina Kannada where the people are supposed to be highly educated and super-intelligent.
