Accused in Rohi murder case Hacked to Death
Mangauru: A group of five, hacked a man to death at Vamanjoor, here on August 19. Charan was the accused in Rohi murder case.
The deceased has been identified as Charan (33), a resident of Moodshedde, Vamanjoor. He was an auto driver by profession.
According to sources, on August 19, Charan along with his wife was travelling by auto. At Vamanjoor a group of five men, came in a Bolero, waylaid the auto and attacked Charan. Charan who was severely injured was taken to A J Hospital. Mangaluru Rural police reached the spot and investigation is on.
It is recalled that Charan was assaulted by the Kavoor SI Umesh on October 8, 2014, for appearing before the court in the Rizwan attack case.
Speaking to mangalorean.com Charan ‘s wife said, “We were going to Mangaluru from Moodushedde, all of a sudden a group of 5 came in a Bolero and waylaid the auto in which we were travelling. They attacked my husband with weapons. My husband was holding the infant during the attack”.
She further said, “When the group was assaulting my husband, I pulled the child from his hands. I even requested him to run from the spot. But he was unable to run. When the public saw my husband being hacked, they tried to stop the attackers by pelting stones on them. Immediately I put him in the auto and brought him to the hospital. But he succumbed to injuries”. Unconfirmed sources revealed that more than 2 persons have been arrested in this connection.
Speaking to mangalorean.com DCP crime said, “We have formed three teams to nab the culprits, a technical team and another two teams to trace the culprits. The teams will work on all possible clues and arrest the culprits as soon as possible”.
The attack is said to be an old rivalry.
