ADGP Kamal Panth Rewards Police Officers for Arresting Deepak Murder Accused
Mangaluru: “In the Deepak Rao murder case the police have arrested four persons namely Pinky Nawaz, Rizwan, Naushad and Mohammed Irshan. The accused after committing the crime fled from the spot in a car. The information of the murder was flashed to all the police stations and check posts were informed through wireless. Immediately the Mulky ASI Shethal and constable left the police station and started their operation. They spotted the vehicle at Ullanje but the accused did not stop the car. As soon as the ASI saw the car, he stopped his jeep, got down and tried to stop the car. But the driver proceded without stopping in an attempt to run over ASI Sheetal. ASI Sheetal, fortunately, escaped with an injury to his right-hand finger,” said the ADGP Kamal Panth in a press meet held at the Police Commissioner’s office here on January 4.
Addressing the mediapersons Kamal Panth said, “In an act of self-defence, the ASI fired 5 rounds on the car and went after them. During the chase, the car fell into a ditch where the police succeeded in arresting Mohammed Naushad (22) and Mohammed Irshan (21). But Mohammed Nawaz alias Pinky Nawaz and Rizwan succeeded to flee from the spot.”
Kamal Panth further said, “When the two accused escaped, CCB Inspector Shantharam and Panambur Inspector Rafiq continued the search operations, they received information about the accused hiding in Daddiguri Badaga Yedapadav. Getting information about the accused both the inspectors reached Daddiguri to arrest them. During the operations, the accused who were on the run tried to attack the police officers. While the accused attacked the police officers, the police fired rounds from their service pistols in self-defence. In the skirmish, both Pinky Nawaj and Rizwan were injured. They have now been shifted to the hospital for treatment. We have secured two of the accused and other two accused who are injured have been admitted to the hospital. Once they are released from the hospital we will take them into our custody.”
The accused Pinky Nawaz was involved in various theft cases and 12 cases have been registered against him in Suratkal, Konaje, Vittal, Bantwal Town and Beltangady police stations. 2 attempt to murder cases in Suratkal, attempt to murder inside the prison in Mangaluru Jail, and theft case in Kavoor police station. The accused Rizwan was involved in Bharat Raj murder attempt in 2016 and in other cases of attempt to murder and murder have been registered against him. Mohammed Naushad is involved in three cases of murder and attempts to murder and Irshan is involved in 2 cases of murder and attempts to murder.
Kamal Panth further said, “I must appreciate the commissioner of police for handling the law and order situation were efficiently. I also commend the assistance of IGP, CID and economic offences, Bengaluru Chandra Sekhar. We are recognizing the efforts of the police officers and a cash reward will be given to them for their bravery.”
A Cash reward was handed over to the CCB Police Inspector Shantharam, Panambur PI Rafeeq and other four police officers.
Police Commissioner T R Suresh, IGP, CID and economic offences, Bengaluru Chandra Sekhar and SP Sudheer Reddy were also present.
