Appointment Token for Aadhar Card, Serpentine Queue Witnessed at DC Office

Mangaluru: About a 100-meter long serpentine queue was witnessed at the DC office on August 21 to get an appointment token for Aadhar card registration and corrections.

Speaking to mangalorean.com Malati who was in the queue from 7:30 am said, “I have come here to collect the appointment token for a correction in my Aadhar card as the date of birth in my card was wrong. I came here at around 7:30 am and still waiting in the queue.”

Another person in the queue, Srinivas speaking to mangalorean.com said, “I have to correct the spelling of my name in my Aadhar card and I am waiting in the queue from 7:45 am, there are many others in the queue who have come for corrections in their Aadhar cards, government should train the people entering the data for new Aadhar cards so that they do not commit mistakes which lead to inconvenience to all.”

Speaking to mangalorean.com ADC Kumar said, “We have opened counters in the Hobali level. In the District, we have opened 23 correction centers. We have opened a correction center at the Pandeshwar Post office, but people are not going there. We have also published in the newspapers of places where Aadhar card corrections are made, but people still come to the DC office. Those who need to rectify mistakes in their Aadhar cards can go to Taluk office, Hobali level or Janasnehi centers and do it”.

ADC Kumar further said, “Today we are giving tokens to the people and it takes less than one hour, to clear the queue. We have appointed a 6 members team and we will put additional people for the job. People did not come here at 4 am as some of them claim. We have requested the staff to come at 7 am and start issuing appointment tokens to the people. There are only 40% new enrollments whereas 60% for the corrections.”

ADC Kumar also said, “I assigned some staff from 7:00 am to distribute the token, hopefully, we will not witness queues henceforth. Since many of the Aadhar cards need corrections, people can go to any of the centers and have it done instead of waiting in the queue. We are giving appointment tokens so that they can come for corrections on the giving date and time. Every day, we will call 30 to 35 people for Aadhar corrections and new enrollment.”
