B A Moideen is an honest and corruption free politician – Minister Ramesh

Mangaluru: A public felicitation for Devaraj Urs award winner BA Moideen was held at the Town Hall here on September 15.

The programme began with the State Anthem. Chief Whip Ivan D’Souza welcomed the gathering. Former Education minister B A Moideen was felicitated with Shawl. Mysuru peta, garland, fruits, memento and a citation.

Addressing the gathering Health and Family Welfare minister Ramesh Kumar said, “In my life, I respect my brother and sister-in-law, like my parents likewise I respect B A Moideen. He was an honest politician when he was in power”.

He further said, “Devaraj Urs was an honest politician and the state government has identified the work of B A Moideen and honoured him with the Devaraj Urs award because B A Moideen deserved this award.

There are two types of felicitations of which one is bought paying money and the other is such kind of felicitation from the public for the achievements. We need to see who is organising the programme and who is receiving the award and What benefit do the organisers or the achievers get from the programme? But here the organisers and the recipient do not expect any benefits.

He also said, “People of Dakshina Kannada are intellectuals and there is 100% literacy her, but now from some time we see people of the district fight in the name of religion. Even though I am not from the intellectual district I request the people of DK not to shed blood in the name of religion but be the light of the society.

Minister Ramanath Rai speaking on the occasion said that there is a lack of honesty in the society. When we identify honest people in the society and felicitate them, we can expect to see an increasing number of honest people in the society.

Addressing the gathering Media Advisor to CM, Dinesh Amin Mattu said, “I am very much surprised to see the crowd in this hall for the public felicitation for B A Moideen. If the same love and concern were showed towards B A Moideen 20 years ago, the district would not have been like this. If people would have shown their love towards Devaraj Urs, the State would not have been like this. The people here have a very different mentality. Whenever they need to support and show their concern or love, they don’t do it”.

Dinesh further said, “In today’s world to get an award is very easy. Sometimes people buy awards, if anyone wants to apply for an award, they themselves will organise a felicitation programme inviting the media and later take the printout of the news published and apply for awards. But B A Moideen did not apply for any awards. He should have got the award three years ago. This year since I was in the selection committee I suggested B A Moideen’s name”.

Dinesh also said that in the Muslim community there is an internal problem. When there are successful leaders in the community, the community does not accept them. B A Moideen is the proud son of the society including the Muslim community. It is an injustice to B A Moideen to felicitate him at this age. After 80 years you should not invite anyone to the stage and garland them. We should feel ashamed to do this, he should have been felicitated much earlier for his achievement.

He also said that when Subbayya Shetty was honoured with Devaraj Urs award there was no public felicitation from DK. People should know who is Subbayya Shetty. When we hold public felicitation people will come to know about the person and his work. But in DK people are not interested in holding a public felicitation programme.

“Nowadays if you want to be a patriot, there is no need to join the military, if you hold a candle and say Bharat Mata Ki Jai, you become a patriot! DK District was famous for unity in diversity, Jasmine was grown by the Christians, sold by Muslims and used by Hindus. But now we fight in the name of religion. When we were young, we used to go to the ice cream parlour with our classmates, but now the students are afraid to go out with their classmates. We have failed to elect able leaders. If such situation continues we will not be able to give anything to the future generation”, he said.

In his felicitation speech, B A Moideen said, “With humility, I am accepting this honour. I do not know how much I deserve this honour but this felicitation will be an inspiration for the future generations”.

Moideen was very emotional and said, “When I went to Hubli to attend a programme and while I was delivering the speech, one person in the crowd stood up and said, shut up, we know the people of Dakshina Kannada. They beat women and girls, you don’t preach us. I shut my mouth and came back to Mangaluru. When I reached Mangaluru I was surprised to hear the news that there was an attack on the pub and girls were thrashed. I don’t know how many years I will live but my advice to the youth is, you need to protect girls and women”.

He broke in tears and said, “Youth are the future of our country, if girls and women in the society are not protected, what is the use of being youth leaders. All the youth should take an oath, “Koodi balutheve”, start the campaign ‘Koodi balutheve’ and work for its success.

JD (S) leader from Kodagu, M C Nanaiah also spoke on the occasion. Mayor Harinath delivered the presidential address. Minister U T Khader, Former minister Abhaychandra Jain, MLAs J R Lobo, Moideen Bava, Shakuntala Shetty, Police commissioner Chandra Sekhar, DC Dr Jagadeesha, Twaka Ahmed Musliyar, Fr Denis Moras Prabhu, former MLA Yogish Bhat, Prof M B Puranik, Amarnath Shetty, J P Hegde, A J Shetty, Yenepoya Abdullah Kunhi, Gopal Bhandary, Harikrishna Punaroor, Kanachur Monu and others were also present.

What a genius from the Beef club. – Mangaloori-Yumreeki Rampe Lmao! If anybody has an obsession for Beef, it is YOU Chaddi Sangha guys. Just see how many incidents have occurred all over India because of YOU geniuses from THE Beef Club. Now, just imagine the following situ: On not so fine a Sunday morning, Pedru Domel (PD) wakes up to water his garden and suddenly he hears his cow in terrible pain. On rushing to his byre/pen, he notices that his pet cow is defecating all over the place and in terrible agony. Now, PD, being a devout Christian… Read more »

Once again, Joker Praveena Pinto proves his membership in ‘Beef Club’ by posting gibberish and feel-good story of a cow-caring beef club member who gets roughed up by sanaathana groups. As we all know, this imaginary story never really happens as pointed out by every single report – I’ve seen only one incident of mistaken identity so far. The illegal nature of transportation and description of those involved always point in one direction!! Trust me – they are not taking cow for medical treatment!! This is something ‘Beef Club’ members intentionally try to ignore as they share a common hatred… Read more »
