Bantwal: Usually any suicide is regarded as an act of cowardice, but one would never know the turmoil in the minds of those doing so at that moment.

Here is the story of a man who went through tough situations in life but he always had a desire that after his death his body would be useful to others instead of being cremated.

Being noble even after death

Mahesh (40), a resident of Arkechar in Idkidu village worked abroad for a few years. After he lost his job, he had repatriated. In the meantime, his wife also separated from him.

Having gone through a bad patch and dejection, with a view to ending his life he consumed insecticide kept at home on Monday. He was rushed to a hospital in a critical condition, but his life could not be saved.

But many times earlier he had expressed his wish to donate his organs to others after his death. Hence the family decided too comply with his desire. But since the death had occurred on account of toxic consumption, the organs could not be separately donated.

Instead, the whole body was donated as cadaver to K S Hegde Hospital in Deralakatte for medical research, said family sources.
