Brother Suspected of Killing Missing Fiona, Skeletal Remains Found
Mangaluru: The skeleton of the 16-year-old Fiona Swedal Cutinho who went missing from her home on October 8, was found at Mudipu here on October 26.
Fiona Sweedal Cutinho from Kambla Padav, Fajir was reported missing since October 8. While filing a complaint her father had stated that Fiona had gone with her brother to Mangaluru and was missing since then.
The Konaje police investigating the case intensified their search for Fiona. On suspicion, they questioned Fiona’s brother Samson.
Sources revealed that Samson has accepted killing Fiona and dumping her body in the bushes near the house. During the search, police found the skeletal remains and are now waiting for the Forensic team to confirm.
According to the victim’s father Francis Cutinha, On October 8 at around 11:00 am, he had gone to the shop to bring sweets to the children and returned home at 1:30 pm. when he can back Fiona was not at home. Francis asked his son Samson where Fiona had gone, to which Samson said that she had gone to Mangaluru. But Fiona did not return home till night, Francis tried to contact Fiona on phone but her mobile was switched off. Fiona did not take any money nor had she taken anything with her. In this connection, a missing person’s case was filed by Francis in the Konaje police station on October 9.
The police intensified their search for Fiona and questioned Samson about it. Francis also asked the help of the Catholic Sabha and handed over a memorandum to the police commissioner to trace his daughter within a week failing which they would stage a protest in front of the Konaje police station.
On October 26, the Konaje police questioned Samson again and Samson revealed that he has killed Fiona. Samson being addicted to drugs, there was a fight between Fiona and Samson on October 8. During the fight Samson hit Fiona’s head with a hammer. Due to severe head injuriy, Fiona died. Later Samson dragged her body to a nearby bush behind their house. When the police searched the place, they found Fiona’s skeletal remains.
The police are investigating the case whether Samson alone killed Fiona or were others involved in this crime.
