DVS, Moily and Politicians Received Money in Crores in Yettinahole Project – M G Hegde

Mangaluru: “On June 11, the members of the Netravati Rakshana Samyukta Samiti (NRSS) will hold a demonstration against Veerappa Moily and Sadananda Gowda with black flags,” said the president of NRSS Vijaykumar Shetty in a press meet held at Hotel Janatha Delux, here on June 7.

Addressing the mediapersons, Vijaykumar Shetty said that senior Congress leader M Veerappa Moily has said that the Yettinahole project will be completed by 2018. “Moily has challenged that the project will not be stopped and it will be completed by 2018, which is a warning for all the people of DK. Many projects which were started in the state were not successful and money in crores were only spent and wasted. Politicians and officials have looted taxpayers’ money in crores. The Yettinahole project is also an attempt to destroy DK,” said Shetty.

On June 11, a protest against Veerappa Moily will be held at the Town Hall at 10 am. He urged all citizens to come in large numbers and take part in the protest. “We should not allow Moily and Gowda to enter DK,” he added.

He also said that the organisation had filed a case with the National Green Tribunal. “They have already given the judgement. Judicial member Chokkalingam has prepared a report of 100 pages and sent it to Delhi but the expert Prof Nagendran said that the report is unscientific, he refused to sign the project and resigned from his job. This is how our law works. The law minister Sadananda Gowda is directly responsible for this, and so is the former law minister Veerappa Moily,” he alleged.

Three cases had been registered against the members of NRSS. “We are ready to face the consequences in our fight against the Yettinahole project. On June 11, even if the police resort to lathi charge or arrests, we will go ahead with our plans. We want to see whether the citizens of the country are respected or not.”

Satyajit Suratkal said that the deputy commissioner had called for a meeting prior to the DK bandh and assured that a meeting with the CM would be arranged. “We waited for 15 days but we did not get any response from the DC or the government. The administration thinks that we will agitate for some time and then forget. But we will not stop our agitation. We want support from the people of DK to strengthen our fight against Yettinahole.”

Addressing the mediapersons, M G Hegde said, “We need to make Veerappa Moily, Sadananda Gowda and U T Khader stand in the Varahi Pond and pour three buckets of water on each of them because Moily challenged to complete the project in 2018. Congress party leader Pratapchandra is still fighting for justice in the Varahi project. The Karnataka Neeravari Nigam Limited (KNNL) is the funding agency for the political party’s high command. There is very less funding from the Revenue and excise department but there is huge funding from the KNNL, which is a highly corrupted department.”

M G Hegde also alleged, “D V Sadananda Gowda has received Rs 125 crore, Moily and the Siddaramaiah government have received Rs 175 crore and some local MLAs and politicians have received Rs 8 crore each. The contract to fell the trees for the Yettinahole project has been given to a close associate of minister Ramanath Rai. The Yettinahole project will not give any water to Kolar but the Yettinahole river will surely be destroyed. This project only serves for making deals between politicians and not to provide water to Kolar.”

Hegde also challenged, “Moily and DVS to come and contest in DK. If you really have guts come and contest in Puttur and Mangaluru. Let Moily contest for the MP election from Mangaluru and Sadananda Gowda from Puttur. If they want tickets from the party to contest in DK, we will help them. This game is only to please the people of Kolar and Chikkaballapur so that they will win the next elections. Let them come to DK, contest the elections and win. If this project is not a failed project, I will change my name!”
