Kodiyalche Chedu (Mangaluru Girl) ‘Miss Teen South Asia’ Josita Anola Rodigues- a Prospective Hollywood Heroine

Mangaluru: Mangaloreans, especially Mangalorean Catholics should be proud that yet another “Kodiyalche Chedu” (Mangaluru Girl) who represented South Asia at the World Super Model Teen Contest held recently in Macau-South China has bagged an invitation from Belgian actor and film Director Fredrick De Vos for his upcoming Hollywood movie. The other lass of Mangaluru origin who acted in the Hollywood movie “Slum Dog Millionaire” and will act in the forthcoming movie “Jungle Book” is Freida Selena Pinto. And for that matter, this lucky girl who is just an IInd PUC student to get this offer to act in a Hollywood movie is none other than 17-year-old Josita AnolaRodrigues, who recently won the “Miss Teen South Asia 2017′ contest held in Mumbai- and she had the chance to represent at the World Super Model Teen contest held in Macau, where she won a place among the top ten contestants.

Mirror..Mirror on the Wall..Josita is the prettiest among all! Fringe or no fringe, for this gorgeous, ravishing and stunning Mangalorean lass with a lot of gusto and a resplendent personality, JositaAnola Rodrigues had outclassed the rest of the contestants to win the title “Miss Teen South Asia 2017” held in Mumbai last month. Gorgeous, honest and extremely talented are the few words that could describe Josita Rodrigues, and by the way she interacted with Team Mangalorean during an exclusive interview, her honesty and positivity seem to be pretty impressive.

A beauty pageant or beauty contest is a competition that mainly focuses on the physical beauty of its contestants, although such contests also incorporate personality, intelligence, talent, and answers to judges’ questions as judged criteria. Beauty pageants remain one of the oldest and well-known symbols of sexism in society today. However, the fact remains that beauty pageants still celebrate and reward a narrow view of feminine beauty. Many females who participate in beauty pageants contribute more to society than many would have expected in the past. By their very nature, beauty pageants support the idea that, for women, any noteworthy success or accomplishment should ideally be presented in a pretty package – conventional feminine attractiveness being the package in question.

The Miss Teen Pageant had provided a fascinating glimpse into how Indian standards of femininity have been defined, projected, maintained, and challenged. The pageantry had given a chance for young teens like Josita to unleash their talents and expose their beauty. But what one realizes beyond that is their warm and straight forward attitude towards life – beautiful, inspiring and infectious. With a stunning personality, anyone would envy Josita’s superb physique and flawless skin. She seems incredibly sharp, intelligent, confident and poised, and she was unbelievably good while interviewing. Being a winner in the modelling/beauty pageant has been a dream of hers for so long that the reality of winning is yet to sink in. She is just trying to appreciate every single moment of first invaluable accomplishment.

Josita has always understood fashion and style to be an expression of the unique and beautiful inner self of each individual person. Her style prior to this pageant was exactly that. Her simple and modest demeanor translated into the sense of fashion which she appreciates herself. Ever since she got selected in the pageant she has found that her sense of style has become more expressive of who she is. She attributes her success to Anupama Suvarana and Charan Suvarna of Fashion ABCD who along with actress Sonal Monterio groomed her to be a perfect model to compete in the Miss South Asia. She is also thankful to Shubhakiran Mani, the founder of Sizzling Guys dance studio, who introduced Josita to Fashion ABCD , while she was learning dancing.

Speaking to Team Mangalorean, Charan Suvarna said, ” Grooming Josita was not that tough as she was inclined towards modelling. Her looks / Body structure and height was Key to her selection for World Teen Super Model. We were very confident of her performance since she had international looks and is suitable for Hollywood Movies. Now since Belgium actor Fedrick De Vos has assured her a role in Hollywood movie, we are expecting her to do good in Hollywood and she will be the second Mangalorean lass to be cast in Hollywood Movies after Frieda Pinto. We are proud and so should all Mangaloreans”.

Shubhakiran Mani of Sizzling Guys said, “I know Josita from her very young age, since the time she used to come to my Dance class. She’s been very talented and focused towards her work. Thereafter I noticed her interest towards Fashion, and in order to bring her into a right platform I approached Fashion ABCD and sent her for Grooming, and after this she went through auditions in Mumbai and finally she made it, and representing India in a foreign country is indeed a proud moment for me, and for all Mangaloreans. . On behalf of the entire team of Sizzling Guys Dance Studio, I would like to wish her very good luck and a bright future ahead. I bet she’ll rock in the Hollywood movie”.

Also speaking to Team Mangalorean, actress Sonal Monteiro said, “Josita is a humble and down to Earth person. She’s a very ambitious girl, and the first time I met her she was blank on what modelling was- and she was totally nervous. But with proper training and grooming under our care at Fashion ABCD, I see her today a complete different Josita with full of life and confidence. Truly another budding star from Mangaluru is all set to make some noise in the film industry. I would like to wish her all the best, with blessings and love. She’ll do great, for sure!”

Josita Anola Rodrigues born on 2 March 2000 in Mangaluru, is the daughter of Wilfred Miranda, an entrepreneur, and Anitha ‘Lobo’ Miranda, a homemaker, residing at Kodialbail in the City. After her high school studies at St Aloysius High school, Mangaluru, she is presently doing her II PU at Sharada PU College, Mangaluru. Her hobbies are dancing cooking, singing, acting, modelling and fun things. Josita has acted in Tulu Mega Serial “Deverna Daye”, and had received huge compliments for her performance in it. She is now looking forward to the unlimited opportunities that might open up once she enters Hollywood, and plans to take a decision about continuing in the field based on the success of her debut in a Hollywood movie.
