Kudla Kids bag Gold Medals at XIII Nat’l Ice Skating Championships
Mangaluru: Niranjan Rajeev and Ashel D’silva, have won the National Gold medals in XIII National Ice Skating Championships held in Shimla and Delhi from 3rd to 6th January 2017 in the under 15 boys category and Under 13 girls category respectively. Niranjan and Ashel are also selected to Indian National Team and would be receiving advanced Olympic training at abroad facilities.
Niranjan is an 8th standard student of Lourdes Central School. He is the son of Rajeev Gopalakrishnan and Nisha Panicker of Mangalore. Ashel is studying in 7th standard at Cambridge School, Mangaluru, and is the daughter of Alwyn D’silva and Asha D’silva (MCC Corporator). Ashel’s brother, Ashwin D’silva is also a national short track ice skater and would be representing India at World Junior Short Track Speed Skating Championships to be held in Austria towards the end of January 2017.
They are presently trained by Avadhut Tawade, Indian National Coach for Short Track Ice Skating.
