Update (18.20): In the Men’s High Jump, Harshith S from team Karnataka bagged the gold medal with a mark of 2.13m. The second place was shared by Supruth Raj (KAR) and Srineesh C (ARMY) with a mark of 2.09m.

In the Men’s 3000m Steeplechase, Jaiveer Singh and Naveen Kumar from the Army team won the gold and silver medals with timings of 8:48.56 and 8:49.38 respectively. Sachin Bajirao P  (MAH) won the bronze medal with a time of 8:58.13.

J Preeth (TN) won the gold medal in the Men’s Pole Vault with a mark of 4.90m/7 points. P Balakrishna (KAR) won silver with 4.80m/5 points, while Krishna Prasath V (TATA) won bronze with 4.80m/4 points.

In the Women’s 3000m Steeplechase, Pariti Lamba (HAR) won the gold medal with a time of 10:48.86, Nandini Gupta (UP) won silver (10:58.76) and S Padmavathy (TN) won the bronze medal (11:58.76).

The Women’s Hammer Throw witnessed Ritu Dhiman from the UP team hit a mark of 58.30m to win the gold medal, followed by Sarabjeet Kaur (PUN) with a mark of 55.10m and Sarita Singh (Odisha) with 54.97m.

There was a close competition in the Women’s Triple Jump event. Sheena N V (KER) won the gold with a distance of 12.92m, Joyline M Lobo (KAR) won the silver with 12.62m and Shilpa Chacko (KER) won bronze with 12.45m.

Mangaluru: The second session of the 3rd day of the 19th Federation Cup National Senior Athletics Championship 2015 began with the finals of the Men’s Hammer Throw here at the Mangala Stadium on May 3. Niraj Kumar from the Indian Navy team won the gold medal with a mark of 64.53m, N Shankar from Tamil Nadu won silver (56.83m) and Abhishek Yadav from Uttarakhand won bronze (49.81m).

Speaking to mangalorean.com, Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim said, “Today is Sunday and the sports lovers have gathered here in a large number to cheer up the athletes, which shows that Mangaloreans support athletes.”
“The athletes and officials of AFI also appreciated the arrangements made by the district administration.  Media personnel from outside the district and state also appreciated the arrangements and the hospitality. Mangaluru is always popular for hospitality and we have organized everything in a systematic way.”
When asked if the Chief Minister would be present for the closing ceremony, the DC said, “On May 4, CM Siddaramaiah will be coming to Udupi for a programme. We will try our best to have him attend the closing programme.”
