Mangaluru: The Mangalore South police have arrested a man in connection with the chain snatching case, from KSRTC bus stand here on July 3.
The arrested person has been identified as Edwin Dinesh Kumar (43), a resident of Eeri House, near Kordabbu Temple Shediguri Ashoknagar.
According to police, on July 2, at around 8:30 pm, Ajay (38), a resident of Ambanagar Mulihithlu was walking from the Town hall road. All of a sudden a unknown person came from behind, snatched his chain and fled from the spot. The chain was weighing 12 gram and valued at Rs 28,000. Ajay soon after filed a complaint in the Mangalore South police station.
Based on his complaint and the information received, the Mangalore South police arrested Edwin Dinesh near the KSRTC Bus stand and recovered the gold chain from his possession.
The operation was carried out on the orders of the police commissioner S Murugan under the able guidance of DCP law and order Dr K M Shantharaj, ACP R R Kalyan Shetty, Mangalore South police station inspector Dinakar Shetty, Ananth Murdeshwar, Vishwanath, Gangadhar, Dhananjay, Satyanarayan, Chandrashekar, Nutan Kumar and Purushotham.
