Mangaluru: The police commissioner Chandra Sekhar along with the Deputy commissioner of police and other police officers paid a surprise visit to the district jail at Kodialbail here on January 15.
Police commissioner along with the police raided the jail premises and seized ganja, mobile phones and other prohibited items. The canine squad along with more than 100 police personnel took part in the operation. Each and every cell was inspected and prohibited items such as ganja, mobile phones, SIM cards, mobile batteries chargers and a screw driver were seized.
The raid was carried out after getting information of deadly weapons inside the jail premises, but no such weapons were found.
DCP crime Dr Sanjeev Patil and DCP Law and order Shantharaju, ACP’s, Inspectors from Kadri, Pandeshwar, Bunder and others stations also participated in the raid.
