Suraj Educational and Charitable Trust was established in the year 2008 and registered under Indian Trust Act of 1980 with an objective of promoting Rural Education. The Trust manages the Suraj International Higher Primary school; and Jnana deepa High School; and very soon the Suraj PU College, is private in nature and unaided. The campus spread over a sprawling 12 acres of land has unique and silent study environment. The Schools/College are located in the remote rural area of Kurnad-Mudipu in Bantwal Taluk, wherein the popular of surrounding areas is totally deprived of education.

Presently the school conduct classes from Nursery to Xth Std with Kannada/English medium of instruction with a total strength of nearly 1000 rural based students belonging to economically weaker section of the society. The Trust had drawn a massive expansion plan and launched very ambitious projects to promote and encourage rural education specially focusing on very high value based education by upgrading the present infrastructure to accommodate future high school/college students.
Suraj International Higher Primary School which had a humble beginning with just 7 students started by Late Snt Shantha C Shetty in the year 2001-02, was taken over by Suraj educational and Charitable Trust in the year 2007-08. Being a private sector school it was established on sound principle of self financing and affordable fees for the students and with the foresight to prepare the students to face the competitive world and the in right to nurture the values and cultural heritage of India. This is the first institution in the rural area which has been run without any donations.
The school provides excellent training, quality education, modern education through Audio-Visual which makes students smart, well furnished class rooms, leadership training through Life Skill Class, CCE System of Education, State syllabus, spoken English, Hobby classes such as dance and Karate classes, well equipped hall facility for school programmes and much more. Several useful and constructive programmes are conducted during the academic year like celebrations for Vanamahotsava Day, Teachers Day, Independence Day, Gandhi Jayanthi, Raksha Bandhan, Father’s and Mother’s Day, Sharada Pooja etc; Picnics and so on.

Suraj P U College affiliated to Karnataka P U Board which will start functioning aims at imparting quality education to students belonging to all strata of society at an affordable cost, beside academic excellence. emphasis is also being laid on moulding the character of students on the basis of Indian cultural values. The College has a spacious library with an impressive collection of books spanning academic reference, literature and works of fiction. Books are issued twice a week and students can hold two cards or two books at a time. The reading room of the library subscribes to various magazine, periodicals and journals of academic and general interest. The library and reading room remain open from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. To enable students to get hands on training in information technology, the college has set up well – equipped computer labs having the latest hardware and software along with an excellent collection of IT based literature. He further said, “The mirror of our institution is our student; hence the mirror should not be clouded but polished. We strive to endow them with a platform, helping them to broaden their horizon and in the process provide them healthy, refined, holistic and substantial education. Manjunath S Revankar born at Hireguttu in Karanataka as a younger son to Sri Padakrishna Revankar and Smt. Gulabi Revankar.He completed his primary education at Hireguttu and Higher primary as well as PUC in his own native place in Hubli.Then he pursued Civil engineering as a profession, then he served in ISRO. Later on he resigned from the post and established ‘Suraj Jewel Palace’,to set a new milestone in Business. The ‘Suraj Jewel Palace’ later went on to become the most popular shop in Mangalore .To promote his professional glory,he laid foundation to the ‘Suraj Builders’ .
It is very difficult to provide quality and fluent English education in rural area. Understanding the importance of Education to the rural children, Revankar established ‘Suraj InternationalHigher Primary School and Jnana Deepa High School’ through ‘Suraj Educational And Charitable ®’.This made him very popular in Mudipu town and also in Bantwal Taluku.
