MCC Takes Precautions, Fells Trees Posing Danger at Jyothi
Mangaluru: Under the able leadership of Mayor Kavitha Sanil, trees which were posing danger to the public at Jyothi were cut down here on June 10.
Speaking to Mangalorean.com, Mayor Kavitha Sanil said, “At around 2 pm, I received a call about cracks in a section of the compound wall of the Government School at Jyothi that were caused due to a huge tree next to it. I also received another call immediately from the police department regarding the same issue and rushed to the spot with my team.”
Kavitha further said, “Soon after I reached the spot, the section of the wall collapsed. I immediately contacted the forest officer, the fire department, MESCOM and the traffic department. With the cooperation of all departments, we cut down the tree. We will also cut down two other trees in the area that are posing danger to the lives of people.”
Kavitha thanked the Fire, MESCOM and the Traffic departments for their timely support in this regard. The MCC team then began clearing the tree from the road.
Speaking to Mangalorean.com, MCC Commissioner Mohammed Nazir said, “When we received the call, we reached the spot immediately. We closed the road for some time and cut down the trees posing danger. We have also demolished a part of the Government School compound wall which was in danger of collapsing. In the coming days, similar trees posing danger to the public will be cut down.
