Minister Pramod Visits Families of Trasi Accident Victims
Update: Later, Minister Pramod Madhwaraj visited Kundapura Chinmayi Hospital and reviewed the medical condition of the 4 students and a teacher.
He then proceeded to Clarissa and Calista’s house located in Muvatthumudi. He met their mother Rita Olivera and consoled the family members. Rita Olivera’s husband Steevan is working in West Asia.
Thereafter, the minister visited Alvin and Reshma Olivera’s house – the parents of Alvita and Ancita Olivera.
The minister also visited the accident spot near Movadi cross, inspected it and proceeded to Don Bosco School and met the school authorities. The principal of the school, Fr Maxim D’Souza briefed the minister about the incident. The minister assured support to the school authorities. Fr Figredo Ian (Provincial), Fr Leo Pereira (Rector of Don Bosco, Trasi) and Fr Patrick (vice principal of the school) were also present.
Madhwaraj visited the family of the other three deceased children in Hemmadi and consoled the family members.
Veronica Cornelio (KSDL president), Hiriyanna (KSFC president), Gerald Crasta (vice president, Gangolli Church), Valerian Fernandes (president, Catholic Sabha Udupi Diocese), Kiran Elroy Crasta (Director of Labour Commission Udupi), Dr Sunitha Shetty (TP member), Janardhan Thonse (ZP member) and others accompanied the minister.
Minister Pramod Visits Trasi Victims in KMC Hospital
Udupi: Newly appointed Minister Pramod Madhwaraj visited the KMC Hospital to check the condition of the Trasi accident victims here, on June 22.
On June 21, the tragic road incident that took place in Trasi claimed 8 innocent lives. After visiting the hospital, Minister Pramod spoke to the media persons and said, “The incident which claimed 8 innocent lives was a very tragic one and there are no words to express the grief. This is my first visit to the hospital after taking oath as a minister. I have cancelled all my programmes today and visited the hospital to see the condition of the victims.”
Pramod further said, “I will go to Gangolli to visit the parents of the deceased as well as the injured. I have already discussed the incident with the DC, SP and the hospital authorities to provide the best treatment to all the injured. These days we see more and more accidents. It is the duty of every citizen to follow traffic rules and at the same time, youth should join hands with the police department to control such accidents.”
When asked about the compensation to the injured as well as the families of the deceased, Pramod said that he will discuss the matter with the Chief Minister and do his best to get compensation.
At present, 6 children who were injured on June 21, are admitted in KMC Hospital. The condition of one child is said to be critical. The driver, Martin was discharged on June 22. Three other children along with Martin’s wife and child were admitted to Chinmay Hospital on June 21.
