Negligence of Driver, Bus Crashes into Shop

Mangaluru: Nowadays, the number of accidents has been increasing. Negligence of drivers and riders are the main cause of most of the accidents in the district. Even after so many incidents, the drivers of buses still do not want to learn to take safety measures. Most of the bus drivers are in a hurry to reach their destination, and they do not bother about someone else’s life since they sit high up in their seats. They are only interested in their daily collection and will try to meet their target at any cost.

On July 6, a man from Goa, who was here in Mangaluru to collect a parcel to be taken to Dubai, was killed on the spot when a “YenYes” bus hit his two-wheeler. On July 7, at State Bank, a bus SMTR (route number 2C) which was left unattended, moved by itself from the parked spot and crashed into a shop. The driver had parked the bus in the bus stand and had gone to have tea.

A woman, who was waiting for a bus in the bus stand, sensing the danger jumped to the side and saved herself from harm.

Shop owner Ashraf, speaking to Mangalorean.com said, “The bus owner has agreed to repair the damages. It is very fortunate that the bus crashed into the shop or else God alone knows what would have happened. Since it is a slope the bus drivers should be extra careful while they park a bus unattended. This is a serious matter and no bus drivers should take it lightly.”

Some others were heard saying that bus drivers are very careless and due to their negligence, many accidents occur. Laws should be strict for such negligent drivers, who put the life of the passengers and pedestrians in danger.

A case has been registered in the Bunder police station.

God forbid, but there is every possibility that a maniac bus driver speeding down from Nanthur Junction towards Kadri, may one day loose control and crash his vehicle in Chefs restaurant or Kamadhenu Gas Agency with disastrous and horrifying consequences. To protect and to slow down the vehicles, it is imperative that a speed breaker be installed on this down hill road to avert untoward incident from happening.
