Mangalore: Ladies Circle gears up to host 'A Tribute to Jim Reeves'

Mangalore, July 15, 2009: Mangalore Ladies Circle is all set to present 'Memories of Yesteryear', a tribute to Jim Reeves to commemorate his 45th Death Anniversary on Friday, July 31, 2009 at 7.30 p.m., at the 6th floor of the Bharath Mall, Bejai, Mangalore. The proceeds of the fund collected through this concert will go to CHARITY.

Max Karkada, who is blessed with Gentleman Jim's alike voice, will be performing live, accompanied by more than 17 of the best known veteran musicians of Mangalore with an ensemble of Trumpets, Violins and Guitars will bring back the memories of the 1950's and the 60's.

When a small group of Reeves fans in Mangalore got together and decided to commemorate Jim Reeves few years back they never thought it would be a runaway hit of this magnitude. What was initially planned as a private function grew unimaginable levels drawing music lovers from all parts of Dakshina Kannada , Kodagu and Udupi.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  

The enthusiastic Richie Lasrado, Titus Noronha, Rohan Shiri, Max Karkada, Weltha's and the band of musicians along with the Jim fans have kept the legend of Jim's music in Mangalore alive.

The previous events - A Tribute to Jim Reeeves held in Mangalore:

2003 - Hotel Taj Taj Manjarun
2004 - St Aloysius College Auditorium

Subsequently events were held to commemorate Jim's Death anniversaries at the Ladies Club, Paduhithlu islands and Hakuna Matata beach.

These events which brought back the spellbound music of Jim Reeves were a huge success in terms of evoking the penchant for the much cherished songs of Reeves in the hearts of the Mangalorean fans.

This year's orchestra includes:

Oscar Weltha on the keyboards,
Denzil Karkada, Arun Shiri, Manoj Lazarus and Sunil Kumar - violins,
Rajgopal ,( lead ) Gladson,( Acoustic)  Jerome Coelho( bass) - Guitars,
Melwin Fernandes on the Drums,
Nizel Simon from Calicut and Theo Alwaris from Goa, on trumpets.

Added attraction this year will be combines of immortal hits of Engelbert  Humperdinck,  Elvis Presley, Tom Jones, Connie Francis & Patsy Cline.

Dance Floor will be supplemented with state of the art sound and lighting equipments.
Entry passes include sumptuous buffet dinner.
