Govt orders CID probe into 'love jehad'

By Team Mangalorean Bangalore

Bangalore, October 26, 2009: The Karnataka Government on Monday ordered a Crime Investigation Department (CID) probe into 'love jehad' where young non-Muslim girls are allegedly lured into marriage and converted to Islam following a recent Karnataka High Court order to probe such incidents.

Home Minister Dr V S Acharya chaired a high-level meeting of police officials here and directed Director General of Police (DGP), CID, to conduct the investigation and submit a report in the next 15 days. The meeting discussed the alleged incidents of 'love jehad' reported from Karnataka and Kerala.

Dr Acharya told media persons that a decision has been taken to collect more information about the funding, support and the existence of 'love jehad.' The probe will also focus on whether girls were being lured for conversion, any organisation was promoting such activities and to find out who is behind it. After receiving the report, the Government would decide the action to be initiated to check "love jehad". The DGP, CID would also gather information on the menace, including from Kerala and submit a report to the government suggesting measures to check it, he said.

Karnataka High Court during a hearing on a Habeas Corpus petition filed by the parents of a girl, who married a Muslim boy from Kannur district and was allegedly confined in a madrasa in Kerala's Mallapuram town, had directed Karnataka and Kerala governments to jointly probe the 'jehad' and file a report before November 13.

The Kerala High Court had recently directed the Kerala government to provide information on 'love jehad', observing that there was a movement called "Love Jehad" or "Romeo Jihad" conceived by a section of Muslims in Kerala to convert girls from other religions to Islam.

The People's Union for Civil Liberties has decided to file a writ petition in the Supreme Court challenging the Karnataka High Court's order asking a woman who had converted to Islam to marry a Muslim man from Kerala, to return to her parents' home until the case was investigated. The PUCL will question the decision of the High Court to send the 23-year-old woman back to her family despite her statement in court that she had willingly converted and was waiting to get married under the provisions of the Special Marriages Act.

The Muslim Central Committee of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts will convene a conference of Muslims in Mangalore on November 12 to discuss issues related to 'love jehad'.

Committee president K.S. Mohammed Masood alleged that vested interests were attempting to tarnish the image of Islam by framing the phrase 'love jehad'. "There is no such phrase in Islam. It is an absurd usage."

Kerala HC dissatisfied with DGP report

The Kerala High Court on Monday expressed dissatisfaction over the state DGP’s report on ‘Love Jehad’, where girls from other religious background are allegedly lured to marriage and converted to Islam, even as Karnataka government ordered a CID probe into such incidents.

The court directed DGP Jacob Punnose to produce reports by November 11 in a sealed cover on the basis of which he had prepared the report.

The Karnataka High Court had directed the state and Kerala police to conduct a joint probe and submit a report to it before November 13. Prior to this, Kerala High Court had directed the state to provide information on Love Jihad.

At Kochi today, Justice K T Sankaran observed that some answers furnished in the DGP's report were ‘vague’ and it also appeared that statements in different paragraphs did not ‘reconcile’ with each other. The DGP, in a statement on October 22, told the Court there were reasons to suspect 'concentrated ‘attempts’ to persuade non-Muslim girls to convert to Islam after they fall in love with Muslim boys, but that no organisation called ."Love Jihad'' had been identified so far in the state.

The above statement clearly shows that most of the Muslims are doing like this illegal things but there is no remarkable witness in the field of Love jihad.

Honarable home minister and RSS, Sanga parivar People alredy declared that one social and Democratical party involed in such activities namely Popualr front of India and his SDPI(his new political way)

As result in mangalore a hindhu Moahan (Anand)was arrested by the police for the rape and murder case, before this event all the medias and heres major political leaderes are pointed out that PFI is involed in this illegal thing.

As a forcefully men and women cannot be converted by other religion even if their interested.
Fianlly congrats to the police and IGP who arested that real hero of the "LOVE JIHAD"

With Regards

First it was "conversions" to ferment trouble which Acharyaji gave his full support. No arrest till date of the perpetrators. No arrest of a Christian till date for charges of conversion. Sentiments of the Hindus were hurt he proclaimed. Not one true Hindu came forward to express his hurt. Not one Hindu came forward who was converted.

And now it is "love jehad" and Acharyaji at it again at the helm of instigation.

Why are Muslims who revert to Hinduism marked for death? Why does the "book" give a Divine command that apostates from Islam must be killed?

That is why I left Islam... Thank you "Faith Freedom International", Dr. Ali Sina and M.A. Khan for making me a human being once again.

I am not sure whether there is anything like 'Love Jihad' exists or not. But one thing is very sure and clear there are large numbers of men in Mangalore who are on the prowl to satisfy their sexual desires on the pretext of love. This phenomenon is not only restricted to men from one community. These men will dump the girl most of the time after their sexual gratification and move on looking for their next prey. It is very difficult to differentiate the wolf among the crowd and this is hard truth of Mangalore or any other city off late.

Love jihad: Does it exist or not, we should have clarity. If it exist, it is both SIN & CRIME. It is good news for DK women and community if it doesn't exist.

Maharashtra Govt (under Congress-NCP) already announced CID probe against similar things few months back.

Karnataka Govt did the right thing. It should be probed to the bottom and guilty should be punished.

Kerala Govt is not doing anything because of votebank politics.

The government did not want probes for the church attacks or the pub incident or the moral policing or communal clashes. Why are they so much interested in love jehad. If it is found false are they going to publish the findings.

According to me "Love Jehad" phrase is a Cock and Bull story. The Karnataka High Court has ordered the Probe, before Mr. Mohan Kumar's episode. However Dr. Acharya's initiative of ordering CID probe will not fetch the result wanted by Hindu Fanatics.
Love and Sex is a Universal matter to our younger generation, Hence there will be no barrier, can be raised by the Religious zealots according to Law.
Only Parents and True friends can prevent this inter religious marriages at the initial stage.

this is all stupid decission by govt wasting public money and tarnishing Muslim community name in public. instead investing valuable money in to the need of hour and better road andother infrastructure govt pulling everyones minds and confuse entire kannadiga with love jehad.. who said - do you have any real news on this? don't hype media news. like evening news paper.

Arrest of Mohan Kumar is a biggest (Kolhapori Chappal) slap on the faces of proprietors of ‘Love Jihad’... Shame on you.. still showing faces to the public don't you find drop of water to committ suicide?
Khatib, UAE Oct 26, 2009
Dear Home minister first please advice us the status of probes like Padmapriya murder case, COD probe of the church attack in bangalore, Mysore riots case, coal scam, ISKON affairs probe, CBI probe into lapses in Shiradi Ghat repair, NCW pub attack probe, judicial probe into attacks on Churches in M'lore etc etc then you speak of new probes.
