Mangalore November 9, 2009: St. Aloysius High School students presented "Sapta Varna", an art exhibition and St. Aloysius High School and Namma TV jointly organized "Chilipili- 2009" a inter school competition to mark the children’s day, today 9th November 2009 at the auditorium.
The program began with invoking God's blessing with prayer song by the students. Mr. Lancy D'Souza welcomed the gathering and introduced the guests. The Chilipili 2009 was inaugurated by Rev. Dr. Richard Rego S.J, Director Sarang 107.8 FM Community Radio by lighting the traditional lamp along with Fr. Melwyn J.Pinto Headmaster, St. Aloysius High School, Mr. Joseph and other dignitaries.
In his inaugural speech, Rev. Dr. Richard said that 'Chilipili 2009' is a medium to exhibit hidden talents to the limelight. Media plays a very important role in this modern era and students are very fortunate to have such facilities to exhibit their talents. “During our days, we were finding difficulties to exhibit our talents and we were sharing them only with our friends. Today, opportunities come at everyone's doorsteps and students get good exposure through various mediums,” he said. Dr Rego said that opportunities are like birds, once they come into our hands, we have to take care of it and nurture it. He urged the students to expose their talents and take part in every competition and prepare themselves to a competitive world and make the school as well as the parents and the society proud.





















"Sapta Varna" was released by Rev. Fr. Melwyn J. Pinto S.J. In his speech, he said that 'Chilipili' is like a sound of a bird singing. In our school, when students are there around us, we can hear their sound. But when there is a holiday, there will be silence. Regarding the paintings by St. Aloysius students he said that there was a professional touch in every painting. Studies are important but don't be a bookworm, be active in extracurricular activities too, he advised the students and urged them to actively participate in extracurricular activities.
The Inter School competitions began at 11 a.m. Students from various schools took part in elocution, dance, collage and drawing competitions.
The valedictory program was held at 3 p.m. at the school auditorium. The program began with a prayer by the students of the St. Aloysius High School. The students of the Yenepoya School performed a traditional dance. Master Raymond Pinto welcomed the gathering and introduced them to the same. A floral welcome was given to all the dignitaries following which prizes were distributed to the winners of all competitions.
Mr. Siddappa, (Traffic Inspector) distributed the prizes to the winners of the Collage competitions. Speaking on this occasion he said that by presenting 'Chilipili', St. Aloysius and Namma TV have brought out hidden talents of the students to the limelight. Talents are inbound, it should be grown by exposing it. Today, the students who have won will be happy but for those students who have lost, it is just a beginning towards success.
The student's of St. Aloysius High School performed a foot tapping dance and enthralled the audience. Master Adarsh entertained the crowd with his rib tickling mimicry. Rev. Fr. Honey Cabral, Principal of Karnataka Theological College, distributed the prizes to the winners of the drawing competition. Fr. Melwyn distributed the prizes to the winners of the singing competition.
The students of 10th std. (St. Aloysius High School) performed a filmy dance and enthralled the crowd. Master Prashanth Bhat compeered the entire programme.
