Al Ain November 26, 2009: The Kannada Sangha of Al Ain - Buraimi recently celebrated Kannada Rajyotsava and Deepavali with traditional gaiety and religious fervour. It was organized in the Nadi Al Ain Maquam indoor stadium. Well-known entrepreneur Mr. B.G. Krishnamurthy who was the chief guest on this occasion, inaugurated the celebrations. Speaking on this occasion, he took his audience of Kannadigas and Indians on a journey through the nostalgic path. He recalled days of his childhood when his school and teachers observed the Kannada Rajyotsava and said he felt that his motherland was not so far off.
 
Another chief guest Mr. Basavaraj Mahamani in his speech spanning 45 minutes immersed the audience in laughter and humour which was in fact the highlight of the programme.
 
Dr. Swami who had brought out an annual volume of his magazine Chandana was released by Mr. B.G. Krishnamurthy by handing over a copy to Mr. Murali - senior member of the Sangha.

On this occasion items like Hulivesha, lamp dance by the children, and many other entertainment items were presented by the children and women members of the sangha. There was a lively dialogue between Harish and Manu, while Ms. Rekha Bhat and Mariot Lobo presented fancy dress items. Ladies tried their hand in Rangoli competition too.
 
Dr. Uma and her troupe presented a choir after which the children burst the fire crackers, while ladies lit up the traditional lamps. On this occasion Ummar Farooq and John D’Mello engaged the men and children in a mind raking quiz programme.
 
Member of the managing committee of the Sangha Dr. Kumar earlier welcomed, Mr. John D’Mello gave introductory remarks, Mr. Rekha Bhat introduced the guests, Mariot Lobo proposed a vote of thanks. Mr. Ummar Farooq compared the programme.
