Mangalore lad for World Youth Chess Championship in Turkey


 

Mangalore, November 9, 2009: DCS prodigy Nihal Manjunath has been selected by the All India Chess Federation to represent India in the “World Youth Chess Championship 2009” being organized by Turkish Chess Federation under the auspices of the FIDE from 2nd 11th to 23rd November 2009 at Antalya, Turkey.

Nihal will take part in the Under 14 Boys category. His performance in the National Under 13 Chess Championship held in 2008 at Vellore where he stood 3rd has won him the selection for World Youth.

Nihal is studying in 10th standard in Lourdes Central School and son of Dr.Manjunath and Dr. Veena Manjunath. Apart from National Bronze, he has also won Silver Medal in Asian School Chess, State Under 13 title, has led Lourdes Central School team which won National CBSE Championship and many more laurels.
