Bajpe (Mangalore) November 20, 2009: St Joseph’s P.U. College, Bajpe and Samanvaya, Mangalore had jointly organized Fr Bernard D’souza Memorial Inter-Collegiate Environment Competition Save Planet Earth on November 17, 2009 at St Joseph’s P.U. College, Bajpe. The programme was inaugurated by Mr Salvador Monteiro, by lighting the lamp.  He recollected the past memories of the establishment of the college under the eminent leadership of Fr Bernard, a dynamic personality. The chief guest Mr Robert Rego of Bajpe admired the courage of late Fr Bernard and his love for environment.

As a part of the competition there was workshop on Save Planet Earth by the resource persons Rev. Dr Ronald Cutinha, director and Sr Mabel D’souza, women co-ordinator of Samanvaya. They highlighted the need of protecting environment, water harvesting, avoiding the excessive use of plastic, solid waste management through LCD projector and tele film.

The principal of St. Joseph’s P. U. College Br Charles D’souza welcomed and introduced the chief guests. Mr Jayaram Bhat proposed vote of thanks and Mr David D’souza compered.  50 students from St. Raymonds P.U. College, Vamanjoor, MGC P.U. College, Bondel, MAPS P.U. College, Maravoor, Pompei P.U. College, Aikala, St. Joseph’s P.U. College, Bajpe participated in this event. St. Raymond’s P.U. College Vamanjoor, St. Joseph’s P.U. College Bajpe and MAPS  P.U. College Maravoor won the first, second and third places respectively with trophies and cash prizes.a
