| Bangalore Dec 31: University Libraries in Karnataka will be connected through 'UNI-LINK' network for which a Task Force under Bangalore University Vice Chancellor Dr N Prabhu Dev's Chairmanship had been formed.
A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of Vice Chancellors, Registrars and Librarians held under the Chairmanship of Minister for Higher Education Arvind Limbavali yesterday to workout modalities of networking the libraries.
The meeting felt it was essential to network the libraries to achieve resource sharing,digitisation of University publications and rare books and create database for development of wb portal, according to a release by Bangalore University here today.
Prof P V Konnur would be the Member Secretary of the Task Force in which Vice Chancellors of all the State Universities would be the members. Two Registrars of the State Universities and two Librarians, to be named by the Chairman, would be coopted to Task Force. The meeting unanimously decided that all the Universities would contribute Rs one lakh each as seed money required for starting the work.
