Raipur, March 3 (IANS) A 30-year-old man was arrested Wednesday from a Chhattisgarh village on charges of killing his eight-month-old daughter during Holi celebrations.

Faran Sai, a resident of Chidrapara village in the state's Jashpur district, has been absconding since March 1 after he allegedly banged his daughter to the ground thrice during Holi, K.R. Sahare, the officer in charge of the local police station Patthalgaon, told IANS by phone.

Chidrapara village is around 450 km north of state capital Raipur.

Sahare claimed the father confessed to the police that he killed his daughter by accident.
