Mangalore: Ranga Sambhrama, 20-day fest for theatre buffs


 

Mangalore Sept 22: Namma Tuluver Kala Sanghatane, Mudradi will hold Ranga Sambhrama, a 20-day theatre fest to mark its 20th anniversary celebration from Sept 24 to Oct 13 at B V Karanth open theatre, Mudradi.

Theatre buffs can watch 24 Tulu and Kannada dramas to be performed by troupes from across the State at Mudradi during the fest at 9 pm. Natana, Mysore will perform Kannada play Tunta Rajan directed by Mandya Ramesh on Sunday.

Natana, Mysore will present Sambashiva Prahasana authored by Chandrashekar Kambara and Elluru Nammavare directed M S Umesh on Monday and Tuesday, respectively.

Sangama Kalavider, Manipal will perform much appreciated Tulu play Undu Ramayana Att, directed by Sudesh Kumar Manipal on Wednesday.

Savitam, Kuradi will present Shivabhuti and Nerekere directed by Kuradi Seetharam Shetty on Thursday. The artistes of Vikasam, Bhadravati will present Kannada play Ranga Purandara on Sept 29, Prayoga Ranga, Bangalore will perform Beru directed by Nagaraj Murthy on Sept 30. Karanataka Sangha, Mumbai will present Mrugatrisha directed by Bharat Kumar Polipu on Oct 1.

On Oct 2 Adi Shakti and Brahma Baidarkala Yakshagana Mandali will present Yakshagana performance Devi Mahatme. Kinnara Mela, Tumuri will present play Mannina Mane directed by Sathish Shetty, Tiptur on Oct 3.

On Oct 4 Kinnara Mela, Tumuri will perform drama Chitra authored by Rabindranath Tagore and directed by K G Krishnamurthy. Mahavir College, Moodbidri team Rangabharati will present play Sevanthi Prasanga on Oct 5.

Niratanirantha Makkala Nataka Shale, Puttur will perform Children’s play Adrishtada Payana written by Rabindranath Tagore and directed by I K Boluvar on Oct 6.

Kusumasaranga, Subrahmanya will perform Kannada play Jategiruvanu Chandira written by Jayantha Kaikini on Oct 7.

Gejje Hejje, Bangalore will perform Sanchari Shravanapungi Ramayana-Mobilayana on Oct 8 and artistes from Ninasam Heggodu will present Birugali authored by Kuvempu and Undadi Gunda on Oct 9 and 10.

Aneka Bangalore will present Ade Adhure directed by I M Dhundasi on Oct 11, Nataka Mane, Tumkur will perform Yarigu Helonu Beda, Natya Saraswathi, Shantala Kannada Kalasangha,Bangalore will present Nadaprabhu Kempegowda and Rangasuggi Trust, Banagalore will perform Mrigagalige anji dode entayya on Oct 12.

Kannada Pusthaka Pradhikara, Bangalore Prof S G Siddharamaiah will inaugurate Ranga Sambhrama on Sept 24 at 8.30 pm. Chitrakala Parishat general secretary D K Chowta, Doordarshan Kendra, Bangalore director Mahesh Joshi, Alva’s Education Foundatition, Moodbidri chairman Dr Mohan Alva, Billava Sangha , Surat president Manoj C poojary, Nataka Academy award winning artist Chennabasaiah Gubbi will participate. Namma Kalavider Kala Sanghatane, Mudradi will honour theatre personalities Mandya Ramesh and Susheeladevi Uday Kumar.

Valedictory will be held on Oct 13 in which theatre personalities Gopalkrishna Nayiri, Kuradi Seetharam Shetty, G Nagraj, Nataka Mane Mahalingu and Shekar Ajekar will be honoured. Theatre personalities N Damodar Shetty, Jayprakash Mavinakuli, Vasantha Bannadi and Manipal Academy of General Education administrator Dr H Shantaram will be present.

On the valedictory Nama Tuluver Kala Sanghatane Mudradi will perform Tulu play Nalpoda Nalike.
