Mangalore Feb 10: A large number of people gathered at the Kulshekar church hall on Saturday to condole the death of Flt Lt Ronald Kevin Serrrao who was killed while taking part in a live air-to-ground firing exercise in a IAF Jaguar at Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan on January 18.

Consoling the pilot's parents, he said that their son has "truly explored the horizon" as written on the IAF hoarding: "We aim to take you to the sky."
KUIDFC Deputy Project Director J R Lobo said that Flt Lt Ronald has become immortal. "He will be a role model for the youth," he said.

On the occasion, Mr Sushil Noronha on behalf of the Catholic Sabha appealed to the Mayor to name Kulshekar - Kaikamba circle and Kalpane - Kucchikad road after Flt Lt Ronald Kevin Serrao.
In her reply, Mayor Vijaya Arun said that a proposal in this regard has already been submitted by the area corporator Abdul Azeez and she will place the proposal before the MCC meet on February 27.
"We will do our level best," she said amidst a loud applause.
Wing Commander Vikram Pereira said that Ronald had touched the sky with glory.

Presiding over the meet, Mangalore diocesan Bishop Rev Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza said that "Flt Lt Ronald has left his today for our tomorrow." He also said that human beings can not question the right of gardener (god) on the flowers (human beings). "He may choose to pick any flower at any time." Flt Lt Ronald's parents Lt Col (retd) John Serrao and Dr Jessica Serrao and Cordel Parish Priest Fr Lawrence D'Souza were also present.

Prior to the meet, the Bishop offered a mass in the jam-packed church.
