UDUPI Dec 29, 2007: The senior swamiji of Admaar Math (one of the Ashtamaths of Udupi) has declared his support to the beleaguered Puthige Swamiji HH Sugunendra Thirtha who is facing opposition from some other swamijis to his ascension of Paryaya peetham. It comes as a shot in the arm of Puthige math as he had been looking for support.  It could be recalled here that about three swamijis including Pejavar - HH Visvesha Thirtha,  Krishnapur- HH Vidyasagara Thirtha and Phalimar HH Vidyadisha Thirtha Swamijis had dissented on the ascension of Puthige seer.  Rest of the three swamijis had not made their intentions clear - They include Shiroor - Lakshmivara Thirtha, Kaniyoor- Vidyavallabha Thirtha  and Sode - Vishwavallabha.
 
According to sources closer to Ashta maths, the ashta maths were equally divided into two groups each of them for and against the Puthige swamiji to ascend the paryaya peetham.  The anti group states that the Puthige swamiji can ascend the paryaya peetham but cannot perform pooja or even touch the Krishna idol in the sanctum sanctorum of the Krishna temple. They argue that Puthige swamiji cannot perform pooja to the lord as he had taken the tour of the ‘Bhoga bhoomi' (land of earthly pleasures) but the protagonists say that the swamiji had committed no wrong.  One of the Acharyas at the sanskrit college in Udupi who is an authority on Madhwa Tattwajnana told Mangalorean.com on the conditions of anonymity that it is mandatory on the part of every swamiji to spread the spirit of Mahdwa Tattwajnana wherever possible. The books do not say that he cannot perform 'Seemolanghana' or 'Samudrolanghana' for taking the spirit of Madhwa Tattwajnana over the seas.
 
The Madhwatattwajnana was written in 13th century and perhaps at that point of time the concept of `Bhoga Bhoomi'  and 'Karma Bhoomi' was more prudent and more specified. But in the present times the west ceased to be a Bhoga Bhoomi and the portion of Thyaga Bhoomi (land of sacrifices) or Karma Bhoomi even in Bharata Khanda (Indian sub-continent) had shrunk in size and spirit.

The West and the countries abroad were now looking towards the East for spiritual upheaval and Madhwa Tattwajnana had all the elements of reaching succor to the confused minds and souls of the west. The Vishwa Madwa Brahmana community at Washington, NewYork, Buffalo, in USA and in St.Petersburg in Russia and many other locations in United Kingdom have heard Suguenendra Thirtha delivering the sermons on Madhwa Tattwa Jnana and Madhwa Raddahnta and have liked the spirit of Madhwa philosophy many of them have also renewed their links with Madhwa philosophy and some of the new generation Madhwas abroad have also accepted the education on Madhwa philosophy.
 
Sugunendra Thirtha was also the first swamiji in the entire country in all sects of Hindu philosophy to start giving religious sermons on the net. He started it in 1991 just when the internet era was dawning in the country.
