Mangalore April 3: The Departments of Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery of Father Muller Medical College Hospital together with the Rotary Club of Mangalore North is conducting a one-month Heart Care Camp this April for the welfare of the general public in and around the Mangalore city. The camp will provide services at highly subsidised rates.

The camp was inaugurated by the Hon. Mayor of Mangalore, Shri Ganesh Hosabettu with the formal lighting of the lamp. Shri Sateesh Kumar, IPS, Superintendent of Police, DK District of Mangalore was the Chief Guest of the occasion. Rev. Fr. Patrick Rodrigues, Director, Father Muller Charitable Institutions presided over the function. Dr. Jayakrishna, Head of the Cardiac Surgery Department welcomed the gathering.

Dr. Prabhakar H., Head, Department of Cardiology spoke about the Camp. He stressed on the increasing incidence of heart disease and the exorbitant modes of detection of cardiovascular disorders, hence the need for organizing this camp for the well-being of the common man. Shri Ganesh Hosabettu, Hon. Mayor of Mangalore in his address congratulated and valued all healthcare professionals of Father Muller Hospital for rendering their valuable services and particularly for organizing such a camp at subsidized rates for the betterment of society. Shri Sateesh Kumar, IPS, Superintendent of Police, DK District of Mangalore also extended a word of appreciation to Father Muller Charitable Institutions for organising this Heart Care Camp.

There was a short memento distribution ceremony to the Chief Guests of the function by Rev. Fr. Patrick Rodrigues, Director, Father Muller Charitable Institutions to revere their maiden and esteemed presence at the inauguration. Mr. Lohidas, President of the Rotary Club of Mangalore (North) conferred the vote of thanks. Rev. Fr. Denis D’Sa, Administrator, Father Muller Medical College and Hospital, Dr. B. Sanjeev Rai, Dean, Father Muller Medical College and Mr. Preetham Rai, Secretary, Rotary Club of Mangalore (North) were also present at the inauguration ceremony.

Today, heart disease forms one of the major assailants affecting all strata of society, coming on without warning. The need to have regular check ups is thus vital for the benefit of maintaining quality health at the community level. This camp is intended to offer facilities like ECG, ECHO, TMT, Coronary Angiogram and Angioplasty at highly subsidized rates for the benefit of the general public, especially the poor.
