Ramakrishna Mission holds 10 Cleanliness Drives as part of Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan
The fifteenth week of 12 cleanliness drives of the 400 Abhiyans being organised by Ramakrishna Mission, Mangaluru took off on Sunday, the 15th January at 12 different venues in Mangalore.
174 Sultan Battery – Art of Living team carried out the cleanliness drive in Sultan battery and surrounding areas. Swami Jitakamanandaji and Mohan Shetty jointly flagged off the drive. The members of Boloor Mogaveera Sabha and Women’s group joined the volunteer in the drive. Sadashiva Kamath guided the team.
175 Mangala Nagara – Members of Sri Sharada Mahila Vrinda carried out the drive in Mangala Nagar and Monkey Stand area. They thoroughly cleaned both sides of Monkey Stand road and removed debris and heaps of garbage. They went from door to door in Monkey Stand area and created awareness about garbage disposal. They also had a demonstration about garbage segregation and producing manure for home gardens out of the garbage and waste produced in homes through scientific disposal. Nandini of Earth to Earth foundation gave the demo. Seniors like Krishna Bai Pai, Indira Pai and more than 40 members participated in the drive. Chitra Prabhu and Bharathi Bhat coordinated the volunteers.
176 Urwa Stores – Members of Mangala team of MCF with the support of local public took up the cleanliness drive in Urwa Marigudi area. Local councillor, Radhakrishna and Padmanabha Amin jointly flagged off the drive. Volunteers cleaned the road and the adjoining drains leading from SCS Nursing college to Ashok Nagar under the guidance of Prabhakar Rao, GM of MCF. They also painted artwork creating awareness about cleanliness near SCS Nursing College. Avinandan coordinated the team.
177 Land Links – Members of Matridhama and the people belonging to Landlinks area took up the cleanliness drive in Landlinks area. Murali Prabhu and Prasanna Ravi flagged off the drive. The area surrounding Matridhama was thoroughly cleaned. Local councillor Rajashekhar actively participated in the drive. About 80 volunteers were coordinated by K V Sathyanarayana and Shambhavi.
178 Jeppu – Locals of Jeppu area carried out the cleanliness drive around Gujjarakere. Seetharam Alva flagged off the drive. Weeds were removed around the lake. Sand scattered on the road was removed and drains were cleared. Nitesh and Ropesh coordinated the team.
179 Mannagudda – The public of Mannagudda area carried out the drive in Gundu Rao lane of Mannagudda. Nakul Pai and Vandana Nayak flagged off the drive. The drains adjoining the road were cleaned. Many women and children of the locality joined the drive. Jayanthi Achar, local councillor actively joined the drive. Manohar Prabhu coordinated the team.
180 Balmatta – The members of Team Deshabhimani took up the cleanliness drive in and around Balmatta Women’s College. Prof. Ramananda, Principal of the college and Srikar Prabhu flagged off the drive. The walls of the entrance at the main gate were cleared off the weeds and bushes. The campus was also thoroughly cleaned. Nagesh Shenoy and Ashwith coordinated the team of volunteers.
181 Bunts Hostel Circle – The members of Lions Club along with NSS students of Sri Ramakrishna College took up the cleanliness drive from Bunts Hostel to Karangalpady. Dr Naveen Shetty and Harsha Kedige flagged off the drive. Sadashiva Rai coordinated the team.
182 Kolya – The locals of Kolya and the devotees of Sri Kshetra Kolya carried out the cleanliness drive in Kolya Area. Balappa Poojary and Poornakala flagged off the drive. The drive was carried out in the premises of Kolya Math and adjoining areas of National Highway. Madhusudan Aiyyar, Seetharam and others actively participated in the drive.
183 Navabharath Circle – Team Prerana took up the drive in Navabharath circle and adjoining areas. K C Prabhu and Dr Prabhakar Rao flagged off the drive. Sadananda Upadhyaya guided the team in cleaning the roads, footpaths and the adjoining drains. Sadananda Melanta, Gopalakrishna Udupa, Jayshree Aravind and several others participated in the drive.
184 Nanthur Padua – Members of Mangalore Havyaka Sabha took up the drive in Nanthur Padua area. Dr Murali Mohan Chunthar, DK Dist. Home Guards Commandant flagged off the drive. Venugopal Bhat welcomed the volunteers and Dr Rajendra Prasad thanked them. Senior Home guards Rajashree, Keshava Shettigar and about 50 volunteers participated in the drive.
185 Car Street – The devotees of Sri Gokarna Mutt carried out the drive in Bhavanthi Street area. Sri Basti Purushottam Shenoy flagged off the drive. Satyanarayana Baliga, Kamalaksha Pai, Damodar Bhat and several others participated in the drive. Naresh Kini coordinated the team.
Kalladka – Students of Sri Rama Vidya Kendra carried out the drive in Kalladka. NSS coordinator Harish flagged off the drive. Principal Krishna Prasad guided the students. Coordinator Prakash Borkar and several others cleaned the Kalladka – Vittal Road and the public toilets in the locality.
