Ramakrishna Mission’s Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan Daily Awareness Campaign

Mangaluru: Ramakrishna Mission carried out a daily awareness campaign in connection with its Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan from 1st to 15th February 2018 in various parts of Mangaluru. About 10 groups visited more than 1000 shops and households and tried to bring awareness about cleanliness and garbage segregation.

1-02-2018: Kadri Road: Members of Karangalpady Auto driver’s association carried out the awareness campaign from Bunts Hostel circle to Kadri. Auto drivers under the guidance of Krishnappa, Vishwanath and others visited several shops and distributed the awareness handbills and appealed to keep their surroundings clean.

02-02-2018: Circuit House: Members of Team Friends Forever under the guidance of Shubhoday Alva carried out the campaign in the surroundings of circuit house in two teams. They met the vendors on the street as well as shops and created awareness among the vendors. Sujith Bhandary, K V Prasad & Others participated in the campaign.

03-02-2018: Bolar: Members of Team Nivedita Balaga visited several households in the surroundings of Bolar Marigudi and urged the households to keep their surroundings clean. Vijayalakshmi guided the team members in distributing the handbills and removing the plastic waste from the area. Yashaswi, Megha, Dhanushree and several others participated in the drive.

08-02-2018: Nandigudda: Members of Vivekananda Youth Forum visited several shops from Koti Chennayya circle to Mangaladevi road and urged them to keep their surroundings clean by distributing awareness handbills. Sachin and Dhanush coordinated the drive.

09-02-2018: Hampankatte: Members of Sri Krishna Bhavan Auto driver’s association carried out the campaign in K S Rao Road. Ganesh Bolar and Yogish Pumpwell coordinated the campaign, the volunteers visited several shops and malls from Hampankatta old bus stand through City centre mall and distributed handbills.

10-02-2018: Central market: The students of GFGC, Car Street under the guidance of Prof. Sheshappa Amin met several shop owners in the Central market area and spoke to them about garbage segregation, Keeping their surroundings clean etc. They urged them to keep dustbins in front of each shop and urged the general public to use them.

10-02-2018: Clock Tower: Students of Sahaya Team of St Aloysius College carried out the campaign from the Clock Tower to State Bank meeting street vendors and visiting shops, they distributed awareness handbills and urged them to keep their surroundings clean. Lecturers Aruna Kalkur, Selphia, Sonal and others guided the students.

12-02-2018: Subhash Nagar: Members of Sri Sharada Mahila Vrinda visited nearly 100 shops and households distributing handbills on awareness and spoke to them about vermicompost etc. using kitchen waste. Sheela Bhat, Suma Ravishankar, Kavitha Pai and others participated in the Abhiyan.

14-02-2018: Morgan’s Gate: Members of Bhagini Samaja under the guidance of Vajra Rao carried out the campaign from Morgan’s gate to Mphasis and created awareness among the locals there. They distributed Swacchata Sankalpa handbills and warned them about unhygienic conditions. Bhanumathi, Yashoda Rai, Vijayalakshmi Bhat and others participated. Suresh Shetty coordinated the drive.

15-02-2018: Kadri: Members of Subrahmanya Sabha Sadana carried out the campaign from city Hospital to Kadri temple. They met several persons and visited households distributing handbills and creating awareness.

Umanath Kotekar coordinated the daily awareness campaign. MRPL is sponsoring this drive.
