Suspected Accused should undergo lie detector test – Parents of Sowjanya
Mangaluru: “The suspected accused in the Sowjanya murder case should undergo the lie detector test. We welcome the order of the CBI court which was issued recently for the probe. Our daughter Sowjanya (17) was raped and brutally murdered in a deserted area in Dharmastala on 9 October 2012. When we first went to the police station to file a complaint our complaint was not accepted by the Beltangady police because if any issue takes place the Landlord should give permission to file the case. When Sowjanya was missing the locals along with us started to search for her, but we did not find her. The next day morning her body was recovered, but there was a suspicion that when we along with the locals had searched for Sowjanya no clues were found until late night. We doubt that powerful people have killed her after raping her and thrown her body on the side of the road. Hope we will surely get justice,” said the father of Sowjanya Chandappa Gowda in a press meet held at the Press club Urwa here on February 14.
Chandappa Gowda further said, “There were attempts to close the case. The CBI also failed to investigate the case and were unable to arrest any of the accused. Now the special CBI court has ordered a re-investigation of the case. The lie detector test should be done on all the suspected accused in the Sowjanya murder case. We are sure of getting justice this time”.
Sowjanya’s mother Kusumavati, Social activist Amrita Shetty Atradi, Vishnumurthy Bhat, Robert Rosario and RTI activist Venkappa Kotian were also present.
