Manchester: KCA-UK once again triumphantly celebrated September 5th with dual occasions. The first was the decennial celebration of the Association and the second was the feast of Nativity. This was celebrated at the Jain Community Centre in Manchester on Saturday, 5 September, 2015.
The day began with the holy mass in Konkani celebrated by Fr Vincent Sequeira. People from all over UK had come to Manchester to grace this occasion as one family. Soon after the mass, the blessed corn was shared among the guests and the agenda of the day continued with the welcome dance. Joseph Sequeira and Raj Francis Pereira were the MCs and they compered the entire event for the day.
Santosh Pinto the president of KCA UK welcomed the guest. KCA UK committee members performed the lighting of the lamp. Lainet Pinto and Vinod Barboza gave a brief insight to the guests about the growth of KCA UK over the last ten years. The previous presidents, namely Ronald Lobo, James Ravi Pinto, Stany Rodrigues and Santosh Pinto, were given a memento each as a token of gratitude for the voluntary services that they have rendered to the association over the last decade. Along with them, all the families who had supported KCA UK in one way or the other were also rewarded with a memento. The families of KCA UK prepared a delicious vegetarian lunch which was shared amongst all the guests as one family under the leadership of Martin Saldhana.
Soon after the lunch various cultural activities like skits, songs and dance were presented by the talented artists of MUKA team members from Nottingham, KCAUK team members Manchester, and team members from Sunderland. Bingo was conducted by Joseph Sequeira and Vinod Barboza. On behalf of the association, Arshiya Pereira thanked each and everyone who had helped to make this event a grand success. The event was concluded with “Laudate” led by Stany Mendonca.
