In Mangaluru the situation is under control. The Police have to take necessary precautions to avoid the occurrence of any untoward incidents. Police have controlled the situation well and did not allow it flare up. Many cases have been traced, on April 20 Karaopady Jalil was killed and we have arrested 11 persons. Where there is need take action under goonda act, they will be externed or arrested under KCOCA act.”.
DGP further said, “I hope our police department is capable to handle the situation and we are able to maintain communal harmony in the district. I have seen that most of the people of this region want peace they are peace loving, they are together. I have met some people who say that they don’t understand why there is a difference made between communities. There are very few people creating trouble. We will get each one of them whatever the number may be.”
DGP also said, “The media should take care while telecasting news and should give balanced report to their viewers or readers. I have discussed with various organizations and they say that the statements come in the media which lead to communal disturbance. Such statements which create violence should not be repeated. Such statements should be banned”.
When asked if anyone has been detained in the Sharath murder case DGP said, “We are questioning people, we have enough clues and the investigation is going on in a right direction. The accused will be arrested soon.”
When asked why there is delay in arresting the accused in Sharath case, DGP questioned, “Do you have faith in the police? If you have faith in police you should not compare different cases. Because of the comparison earlier the police have arrested persons not related to the case. This time we will not give opportunity for such a situation. If the accused is arrested soon it is a good luck. We have taken this case seriously and are investigating. In Karthik Raj murder case, we took 5 months and arrested the right persons. Give us some time and we will arrest the right persons who have committed the crime.
ADGP Alok Mohan, IGP Western Range Harishekaran and Police Commissioner T R Suresh were also present.
