10-year-old Girl Drowns in Varahi Canal at Kota
Udupi: A 10-year -old girl drowned in the Varahi canal under the Kota Police Station limits here on Friday, April 23.
The deceased has been identified as Meghana Kulal (10) daughter of Bhaskar Kulal of Hunsemakki of Kundapur Taluk.
According to the police, when Meghana was walking home with her cousin on the side of the Varahi Canal, she slipped and fell into the canal. Her cousin immediately screamed for help. People from the nearby houses rushed and tried to rescue her but she had already drowned. The body was later recovered and sent to the hospital for post-mortem.
A case has been registered in the Kota Police Station and investigation is on.
