100 PG/UG Students Graduate during Fr Muller HMC&H ‘Graduation Day’

Mangaluru: The Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital, Deralakatte, a unit of Father Muller Charitable Institutions organized their 29th Graduation Ceremony at Father Muller Convention Centre, Kankanady here on April 5.

The programme began with an invocation.  Director of Father Muller Charitable Institutions Fr Richard Coelho welcomed the gathering.

The graduating batch comprised 73 undergraduate students and 27 post-graduate students. A total of 100 students took their oath and received their degrees from the Chief Guest Dr S Sacchidanand, Vice Chancellor – RGUHS, Bengaluru.

The ceremony commenced with much aplomb as the graduates received the ‘Guard of Honor’ and were led into the auditorium by the institution’s marching band. After a solemn invocation hymn, the dignitaries occupied the dais. The Chief Guest of the ceremony was Dr S Sacchidanand, Vice Chancellor – RGUHS, Bengaluru. Along with him, Dr Peter Paul Saldanha – Bishop of Mangalore diocese, Fr Richard Aloysius Coelho – Director of Father Muller Charitable Institutions, and Dr K Shivprasad – Principal of Fr Muller HCM&H were also present.

In his address, Fr Richard Aloysius Coelho, Director – FMCI welcomed the gathering including the students whom he called, “The precious jewels of our institution.”

Next, Dr K Shivprasad (Principal, FM HCM&H) briefed the attendees of the numerous accolades that the institution had garnered that year as well as the 100% results secured by the students of the institution.

After the Graduates were honored with their degrees, they were made to take a sacred oath – vowing to perform their duty and prioritize the health of their patients.

In his Graduation address, the Chief Guest Dr S Sacchidanand said, “Students, Graduation Day is a day to be remembered for your entire life. Now, you are all licensed to heal. This is the most important responsibility that has been conferred on you today. But, this is also a day for you to offer your gratitude to all those who have helped you become graduates – your parents, teachers, administrative members and finally your own friends.” He also added that India is known for producing the largest number of Homeopaths each year and concluded by urging all the new graduates to carry out their profession with integrity.

Delivering a graduate’s response, Dr Wafa Zainab congratulated her peers and said that the real learning would begin after today.

Bishop of Mangaluru diocese Dr Peter Paul Saldanha delivered the presidential address. In his address, Dr Peter said, “Knowledge is something that is imparted to us. Insight is something that is given to us by God. But when our knowledge, insight, and efforts are combined we become co-creators with God.”

He also shared his own experience with Homeopathy and said, “Homeopathy was a field that I desired to utilize for my own well being some years ago when I was going through a constant irritation of allergies. I did it for six months and I was rid of my difficulties.”

Addressing the graduates, Dr Peter said, “Your destiny, shaped and molded in these hallowed precincts, is to serve the patients with compassion and heal and comfort them.”

The event concluded with Dr Skandan Kumar being awarded the Best Outgoing Post-Graduate Student. Dr Aleena Thomas was named the Best Outgoing Under-Graduate Student and was conferred with the first-ever President’s Gold Medal.
