100th Episode of Teleserial ‘Divyasheervada’ Celebrated

Bengaluru: Bishop P K Samuel of Karnataka Central Diocese of CSI Church appreciated the contents of “Divyasheervada” and lauded the sincere efforts of Edward Shamprasad in presenting the Good News of Jesus Christ in different hues, shades and formats every morning on Janata TV channel.

Bishop Samuel was speaking as chief guest at a celebration of 100th Episode of Tele-serial ‘Divyasheervadam’, a bible-based telecast.

Quoting an instance in the life of David Livingstone, the European Explorer who took Christ to the dark continent of Africa, the Bishop said that it was the teachings of Jesus Christ which inspired him to become an Explorer and live Christ in his adventures in unknown lands and thus, contribute to history his greatest discovery. Concluding the brief discourse, Bishop Samuel observed that come what may, Edward Shamprasad should carry on his voyage of taking Christ to lakhs of homes in Karnataka and beyond. Many of those who view and listen to the episodes are strengthened in their faith and several others who have not heard about Jesus Christ get to know him. Bishop Samuel who makes great sacrifices for the spread of the good news invoked God’s abundant blessings on Edward to carry out his noble task and wished him all success in his future endeavours.

The Function got off to a solemn start with Pastor William James of New Life Fellowship Church invoking God Almighty’s presence and blessings for the success of the programme.

The Choir group of New Life fellowship devotionally and zealously sang the hymn “SarvashrishtiguYejamaanaNeene” meaning “Lord thou art the Head of this entire creation”.

The choir members comprising mostly ladies of YesuKripalaya sang a devotional song invoking the Lord’s intercession. Earlier, Rev. Paul Dinakar of YesuKripalaya, Rajajinagar (Bangalore) welcomed the guests and invitees.

Asha Peter, one of the resource persons who often appears in “Divyasheervada” teleserial Episodes, spoke eloquently about the genesis of Mytri Creations, its attempts to spread the Good News and its tireless efforts of producing more than 300 Episodes of “Rabbi” which was a bi-weekly teleserial aired by Doordarshan “Chandana” channel. She was full of praise for Edward Shamprasad and his Team’s vigorous attempts and striving towards spreading the Word of God through “Divyasheervada.” Each episode aired through the week, different from each day focused on spiritual, social and ethical subjects which are quite relevant to the present society. At the close of her talk, she invoked God Almighty’s blessings on Mytri Creations and the Team especially on Edward Shamprasad to carry forward the telecasting of “Divyasherrvada” more and further.

A dance by a group of Kids added colour and lustre. Later, Mytri Creations presented mementoes and felicitated with flower Bouquets, all the groups who had participated in different Episodes of “Divyaasheervada. Resource persons such as renowned Christian Folklorist, Poet and Writer Dr.B.S.Talwadi, Dr.AtulAgamkar, Dr GDV Prasad, who all had contributed in their own way towards the successful telecast of “Divyasheervada” were also felicitated with flower Bouquets and mementoes. Later, all the pastors and many others who had helped in production and telecast of “Divyasheervada” including the Cameraman Rakesh D’Souza were felicitated with mementoes.

At the conclusion of the memorable function, Dr.GDV Prasad of Bible Society of India delivered a vote of thanks and Dr.AtulAgamkarsaid prayers of gratitude prior to the final benediction. The organisers hoped the participants drawn from various religious denominations would cherish the memories of the day and thereby draw inspiration to watch the episodes ahead. The grand celebration and commemoration of the successful telecast of 100 Episodes of “Divyasheervada” held on Aug 6 at Richard Ransone Hall, U.T.C. College, Millers’ Road, Bengaluru, added a feather in Edward Shamprasad’s cap.
