11 test positive, Goa active corona cases up at 50: Health Minister
Panaji: Eleven passengers who travelled on Rajdhani Express from Mumbai to Goa late Saturday evening have tested coronavirus positive in a preliminary TrueNat test, taking Goa’s active cases to 50, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said on Sunday.
Samples drawn from these passengers have been sent for re-confirmatory test, he said.
The state’s total corona cases is 66, including 16 cured patients.
Rane said that due to increasing Covid-19 cases in persons who travelled to Goa via rail, road and air, he would urge Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to implement stringent measures vis-a-vis the returnees.
“I will meet the Chief Minister to brief him on the present status so as to curb the rising cases,” Rane tweeted, adding that his department was working on an SOP for Goa returnees, including a mandatory Covid-19 negative certificate valid for 48 hours from the time of issuance.
According to Health Department records, none of the active cases was local but returness.
Sawant has also said that there is no community transmission in the coastal state.
