144 Persons Test Positive and 8 Die of COVID-19 in DK on Aug 17
Mangaluru: According to the district health bulletin, 144 persons have tested positive for the Coronavirus and 8 persons have died of COVID-19 in Dakshina Kannada district on August 17.
Out of the 144 positive cases, 60 persons are suffering from an influenza-like illness (ILI), 16 persons are suffering from Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) and 21 persons had contracted the disease from primary contacts. The health officials are tracing the contacts of 47 others.
Out of the 144 cases tested positive, 88 persons are from Mangaluru, 18 from Bantwal, 8 from Puttur, 10 from Belthangady, 1 from Sullia, and 19 from other districts.
Meanwhile, 209 persons were also discharged from the hospital after complete recovery.
So far 9022 positive cases have been reported in the district and 277 of them have died of the disease. At present, there are 2091 active cases in the district.
All the 144 persons have been shifted to the designated COVID hospitals for further treatment.
